Will it fit?
« on: March 17, 2005, 01:23:17 AM »
Hi All,

I just ran across this ad on eBay: Conti Road Attack Street Tire 120/190

It's looks like a good deal, but I was wondering if that rear will fit on a 2G B12s?
If so, will it cause any problems?

Thanks,

Mike P.

A 190 will fit the rear rim and I'm pretty sure it'll clear everything, as long as you don't have a hugger. (Seems someone here has gone that route.) Go out and check to see if you can add 5mm to both sides of your current tire to be sure.

A 190 will make the bike harder to lean, especially quick transitions from side to side. The only benefit to a 190 is bling factor... unless your B12 is cranking out >150 ponies at the rubber donut.

The price doesn't look all THAT spectacular - at least compared to what you can buy other brands for in the normal 120/180 combo. I paid <$200/set for my last two sets... including shipping. (First set was a B'stone BT010/020 combo, second set was Michelin Pilot Roads.)

I'm using Metzeler ME880 radials in a normal size for the front (120/70-17) and a 170/60-17 for the rear.  It is about 1% larger overall and seems to make cornering easier, especially the initial lean in.

I use my Bandit for a touring platform and appreciate the longer life form the ME880s.  13 - 15 K miles, compared to less than 10K on the original Michelin M90.  The Metzelers are much quieter too.

Brake caliper brace will need to be moved out @ swing arm mount. Just unbolt, move out and rebolt. Works fine for over 20k of 190 using. No other gain but Bigger is better!!
