Well I know that there is me and I know of a guy that lives over in Saugus in Santa Clarita Valley. I have a 2001 red 1200 bandit S. I have been up to Newcombs Ranch a few times over the winter. Went up a few weeks ago and kept riding up to the ski fields. Man talk about lots of snow still up there. Was getting a little cold and too many rocks and gravel on the road so I turns around. So I am looking forward to it getting warmer and the winds to die down. I live in Canyon Country, Santa Clarita. I have seen a few other Bandits up at the Crest as well, so there are some of us around. Cheers,

Guess I missed this one!

New bandit 1250 owner here in central ca. ( Fresno ) Anyone else in this area? :bigok:
-
Hey Bandit1250,
If ya' can't find any 1250 riders to post up, I'm sure the Rexer's will still let you ride with them. :thumb:
-
I guess I will have to check into that. I was looking for a ZRX. Never could find a good used one, so I ended up with a brand new left over 07 bandit 1250 for not much more than a ZRX. :thumb:

I have been all along!
I do monthly rides with the ZRX guys and we do a couple of yearly rallies here in So Cal......seems like the ZRX'ers like to ride much more than the Bandit Boys, lots of rides always posted in the ZRXOA site.

In answer to Sillyme, I have a 1250, ABS and I live in Prather , just off 168.

Hello N13BN, Wow, you are close. I sent you a personal message. I was going to ask you about how your bike shifts. Mine is a little "Clunky" when I shift. I only have about 360 miles on it though.
-
My 1250 shifts about as smooth as any bike I have had. In fact, I usually do most shifts, except from 1st to 2nd, without using the clutch. I am very happy with it.
-
I often shift into 3 rd 4th 5th and 6 th without the clutch also if I'm just cruising along. Those shifts are as smooth as silk. It's when I do use the clutch, I get a clunk. Not always, but quite often it does it. I just wondered if it maybe has a clutch problem. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

I'm riding a Bandit 1250S down here in San Diego. Living in Rancho Penasquitos and commute to North Island every day. Love the new Bandit. I've now owned all three generations of the Big Bandit.
-
I just picked up a 1250SA yesterday up at LA Cyclesports. Decent deal, the only ABS I could find in SoCal. Yupper, I'm in San Diego...
all the best,
Mike

Yeah, when I bought my '07 back in November, I went to Fun Bike Center. They didn't have one in stock and had to get one from a dealer in La Mesa. I don't know how many Bandits Suzuki sells in the U.S. , but they seem to be pretty scarce. I had an '01 as well, and it had to be shipped down from L.A. You can find them (there are a couple new ones on ebay right now), but it's not easy.

If you guys want to get together for a ride my cell is (951) 218-0501. Jerry
I live up near Temecula and I usually have weekends off.
-
In San Diego also! Let's go for a ride.
-
How about we meet up on ORTEGA HIGHWAY (74) at the "Lookout" restaurant on the Lake Elsinore side Saturday morning October 18th?? Say 8:00AMish??
Some nice twisties to ride up there and hanging out at the "Lookout Roadhouse" and shooting the bull is fun also.
Who's in??
-
Bad time for me. I leave for Hong Kong on Oct 17. Be gone for two weeks. Maybe when I get back?
-
I'm in Fullerton. :bandit:

La Quinta Here!
How have you been Jerry? My Bandit is finally running, but I will not ride her down in SD and she is for sale too.

I have a 1999 Bandit 1200 that clunks when I shift into 1st at standstill. It's always done that. I believe it's due to the oil between the clutch plates creating drag on the transmission. It's less noisy after the bike has thoroughly warmed up. It's even quieter after an oil change (???). This is probably a Suzuki design feature, designed to wake you up if you've fallen asleep at a red light.
Here's a few Ducati jokes: 1: - Why are Ducatis so expensive? A.: Because the factory has to hire so many guys to scour the countryside for parts that have fallen off Ducatis in order to build your bike. 2: - Why does Ducati used forged Marchesini wheels? A.: Because the real ones are too expensive.
I once owned an Italian bike (a Parilla), so I can swear that joke #1 is true. So, enjoy your 1250 Bandit, knowing that it's probably going to be as reliable as a Toaster. My 1200 sure has been that good. I never met a less finicky bike in my life.

1999 Bandit 1200S - Corvette Killer. Toaster! Keeper. :bandit:
1980 Yamaha XS850SG (cruiser) - good one. Full bagger. Miss it.
1980 Yamaha XS850G (cafe) - bought w/2nd gear blown. Fixed & sold. Handled like a cement truck. :annoy:
1973 Honda 360 - reliable, reliable, reliable. Fun plonker.
1972 Yamaha R5C - hand grenade. Another rebuild/modification. :yikes:
1962 Yamaha 250 - Badly beaten up by previous owner. Rebuilt engine to TD spec. Fa-aaast! :rant2:
1957 Parilla 175 - liked to seize up. Parts fell off. Great handling. :duh:

-
almost all notorcycles clunk when engaging 1st gear, its the nature of constsnt mesh trannys, try holding the clutch in for ten seconds it will engage with no clunk, or pull in clutch to start and engage first without letting out clutch after starting "snick"

I put nearly 1000 miles on in three days. Got up as far as Manzanar (Lone Pine)...west through Death Valley to Beatty NV, and checked out my old homeland in Ridgecrest/China Lake (can't get on base with a motorcycle, but otherwise can get a visitor pass) before returning to Mission San Juan Capistrano and then turning the bike in. Even got in a meal at my old fave, Jack In The Box. It was warm enough during the days, although Sunday morning's trip up to Manzanar was chilly (below freezing until mid-day).
