Title: Hello from Edmonton
Post by: Paul Gagnon on October 01, 2008, 08:42:09 PM
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I have a red 2007 GSF650S. This is my first street bike, I bought it in July and I love it!

Welcome Paul  :welcome: (nothing wrong with another Paul on the board!!)

I hope you like it here. Give me a call when your planning to ride anywhere in the Kootenays.

Just thought I'd introduce myself.

Welcome!... Glad you could join us. One day...probably next year now! :rant2:(winter). we should all plan a meet and do a ride to a lake somewhere or something similar, have a few beers, be cool to put faces to the names!

We sure have enough members from Edmonchuk, we could do a fair sized group ride somewhere, it'd be a good time...in the spring... :banghead:

Get 'er organized you guys. My buddy Bruce in Leduc has an 04 1200 and he's always up for a ride, too. Dates ??

I propose Revelstoke June or July. The KOA there has Kozy cabins that sleep 3 (separate beds) and only around 60 bones a night.

Sounds okay so far. Bruce and I are campers so a KOA works great.
Would we do rideouts from there or what ?? Dates ??

Rideouts would be great but I think it depends on the time people can get off. As for me I am open any weekend in June, but would have to leave the Sat and come back Sunday, and I have most of July open up until the 16th (dam wedding getting in the way!) I'll throw the first date out there as July 3rd to..... Comments?

If the Alberta crew is heading my way, even for Revelstoke, I can likely make it up to see you.(shucks...Revelstoke is only a beautiful 350km ride through the Selkirk's away).

I know it's a long way from Edmonton, but you should really stretch it another day and do some of the fun stuff in the area. eg:
Hwy 97A - Sicamous to Vernon - BC DH 46
Westside Rd - Vernon to Kelowna - BC DH 11
Hwy 6 - Vernon to Needles ferry - BC DH 2 (awesome!!)
Hwy 6 - Nakusp to Crescent Valley - BC DH 25 & DH 56
Hwy 3A - Balfour to Kaslo - BC DH 60
Hwy 31A - Kaslo to New Denver - BC DH 5 (fabulous!!)
Hwy 23 - Nakusp to Revelstoke - BC DH 73 & DH 35

Now...that would be a trip!! I don't usually camp, but the KOA Kozy Kabins would work for me. You would need a long weekend for sure, ie 1 day each way to Revelstoke, and and full day in the Okanagon/Kootenays. If you had four days, I could really show you around the area!! Once we get a group and date fixed, I can lock it in.

Maybe we can persuade Red01 and Bobcat to join in from the US?

For those interested, here is a link to a youtube video on Hwy 31A - DH 5.

Count me in I love these roads,  I will save a few holidays for this.  Actually I will be out there anyway.  I do these roads at least twice a summer.   The only time I can't make it is over the August long weekend.  I will be on Vancouver Island for that weekend.

Sounds good... we'll have to wait and see what my schedule looks like when we get closer.  I've got another daughter to marry off in August, so funds are being diverted to finance that - and I'm still trying to recover financially from the two month strike from last fall.

Hey Paul...congrats.

My 2nd daughter got engaged a few weeks ago as well. Wedding planning underway for the 3rd week of May. Oldest daughter pregnant. First grandchild due early July. For me, the early July ride will be dependent on the pregnancy/birth.

:congrats: to you, too!  Between my other 3 kids, I've already got 7 grand-daughters.
Maybe this girl will bring me a grand-son.  :bandit:

Well last Monday I returned from a trip to Southern California, where everybody can ride year 'round and I've been dreaming of hitting the road so this weather is really getting me down. As a side note though my bike does fire right up in -20C temperatures.

Hey fellow AB Bandit riders.
If you are planning a group ride that swings near Calgary let me know.
Would love to see a bunch of Bandits representing at the KGB show in Aug

Don't want to be the only Bandit there again!!
I will arrange a group rate for all Bandits. The roads in that area alone are worth the trip and we are tossing in a comedy concert and music jam.

Hey Grantstuff and IceMakk, and anyone else in Alberta,

It looks like we might be headed out on an informal thing tomorrow, around red deer/ rocky mountain house area.  PM me with an email address if you're interested. (We're actually thinking we'll leave tonight and overnight it, but that's not for sure yet)

To Cross post  I plan to be at the pier in Sylvan Lake at around 12:30 tomorrow.

Too bad we didn't have a bit more time to plan this out.  However it is going to be a nice day to ride, and it will be nice to meet a few new people.
