Is there a length limit to url's inserted into messages??? I can't seem to make this one work.

That's odd. I'm sure I've posted longer urls than that. Lemme try...

I've noticed url's with punctuation marks like "!" and "?" will screw things up.

Oh good... thought it was just me. It's not a huge deal but I figured I was doing something wrong. Thanks for trying. :beers:

This thread is a little old, BUT, what the hey! A decent way to shorten a long url down is use this site and the url it creates for you.
Come in handy quite a few times in the past.

You can always give it a name by tagging it like this:
[ url=http://whatever your url is - without any spaces, of course ]the name you wanna give it between the tags. [ /url ]

Which is what I tried to do in Reply #2... Didn't work with this particular link.

The only problem with the tinyurl way is that the links expire. Which is fine on a board that purges its archives from time to time. The Alley doesn't, so quite often you'll come across a tinyurl link that's expired, even though the original isn't.
On that note, it looks a little like the new board software deals with long urls and punctuation better? Unless I totally missed the point of the lesson? (distinct possibility  )
