FLOCK, since Netscape has discontinued support as of March 1. That's the end of an era, for sure. Flock seems to be okay. It automatically imported my faves and didn't mess with my standalone email program.
Things work/load about the same as N/Scape 8.1 but I still need to poke around under the hood and set a few things differently. So far, so good.....fingers crossed.

Speaking of browsers... my iTunes' auto update program keeps trying to push their Safari browser on me.
Anyone using this one?
FWIW - I've been using Firefox on my desktop and laptop PC's for years and been happy with it.
-
I have used Safari browser. It`s ok.
Now I use firefox 3.0.1 and Opera 9.52.

The only reason I don't have an I-pod is because of I-tunes. I-tunes is like a freaking virus. It spiders out into various programs trying to take them over. I use explorer. I've always used explorer and don't have any problems with it! Firefox is also pretty freaking awsome. It's getting bigger and more people are useing it, so there is more support for it out there than there used to be!

firefox has been very good to me, the odd site I need to use explorer
-
Firefox is awesome... except that my company blocks it's use at work.... it can't get through our firewalls....
-
Really? Firefox used to not be available to us at work either... but we've been able to use it now for >2 years. Since I use so many different PC's @ work, I have never bothered to install it on every one and just use IE. I'd think my employer's firewall would be one of the most robust out there - but I don't know anything about the bits & bytes of that sort of stuff.
-
I use IE7 & FF3 on my Vista notebook, Google Chrome and IE8 on my XP Pro notebook, FF3 on my MacBook Pro. Of all of them I think FF3 is the best. Google Chrome seems promising if they work out the bugs.

so many people don't realize how many browsers there are out there...
Here's a brief list off the top of my head: Firefox, IE, Mozilla, Netscape (now dead), Safari, Opera, Konquerer, Links*, Lynx*, Elinks*, Dillo, Chrome, Epiphany, Flock, w3m*... and I know there are many many more.
* indicates text based browsers
and don't forget the ever popular: telnet http://some.host.com 80

Wasn't the Mozilla browser replaced by Mozilla's Firefox?
And wasn't the original Mozilla heavily based on Netscrape?
-
Mozilla Firefox is based on Gecko, the rendering engine that came out of Netscape years ago. There is also Mozilla Suite (called Seamonkey, I think) that is an all in one product -- browser, email, web design editor, kitchen sink. And yes, they all come from the open sourcing of netscape. Flock and some others also use the gecko engine making them also "based" on netscape originally, though they've come a long way since then.
I'm no expert on this, so take all the above as nothing but talk around the water cooler.

now if I could just get him to help me with some DNS stuff....maybe I could keep the damn Alley up. :stickpoke:

I don't know DNS at all, but would be willing to learn. What's the problem? pm me, or email directly (myname at swclan . homelinux period org) and I can try to grok some DNS docs.

Mostly, it's weird troubleshooting that's making me crazy, but I will email you. You might have the ability to help, and not know it. DNS is voodoo science for me too. I'm learning as I go, so we can muddle together. :beers:
