The sad news is  that Jim is used to camping with 3 other men.

As for the original question; I rarely get a room when traveling on my motorcycle.  It has nothing to do with money; I just enjoy the feeling of "living on the road."

My tents are of the nylon backpack variety.  I prefer the REI brand, as they are reasonably priced high quality units.

Sometimes I bring a one-man tent

Sometimes I use a two-man

That would be cool, Eddie.  I don't guess I'll ever do it, but the idea sounds so free wheeling and fun!

I bought a WalMart special made by the folks that brought you the Swiss Army knives.  It's a 2 holer made for backpacking and comes with a single pole that doubles as a hiking pole.  I haven't actually used it yet (carried it though)...liked the looks and features.  Since I don't have my own pics you can see the product page on the WalMart site:

Over the last several years I`ve done a few cross country trips on my Bandit. I was really amazed about how many campgrounds there are! There all over the place. Plus they have showers and stuff. So much cheaper than hotels and in my opinion a whole alot more fun.  I use a Kelty 2 man tent. I find that a 1 man tent or anything else thats smaller just to damned cramped and impossible to get dressed in. Plus, it`s nice to have a good tent incase a hurricane wants to blow in on your parade.
Everything fits fine on my Bandit, especially with a Renntec rear rack.

Cheers! :beers:

I know, I'm trying to be more serious!

I'm going to try this with the camping idea:  Take a small, plastic tarp along.  Tie one end onto the bike front and rear and use pegs on the other to hold it in the ground.  Then sleep underneath this 'lean-to'.

musta been done before.

Try this...

Have a long and relaxing ride.  Enjoy the view, the wildlife, the wilderness.

Then stay at the Hilton.

That`s all fine & dandy, I even thought about that!  But.......... hope there ain`t any hungry skeeters around? Snakes? Lizards? Jackalopes? Bigfoot?
Blackfeet? or even a heard of elephants?
