Arkansas October 2010
« on: August 05, 2010, 06:09:39 AM »
Thinking about going to Arkansas in the first half of October, anybody interested in meeting there. It's been 5 years since the "Rita Rally", I haven't been back there since.

CRAIG-----

dang it has been 5 years.  I'd like to do it too.

I have Guzzi camp out at Talihina State Park, OK on the 10th.   You want to make it a double deal?  Maybe move North on Saturday?  You'll like the Guzzi guys.  RAT Pack Triumph guys are also in Central Ark that weekend too.  I won't be free the following weekend.

or.......

What about last weekend of Sept?   I liked Bull Shoals.  We've been doing the Bandit rides from Yellville.  Last spring, the RAT Pack stayed the Hub south of Harrison.

Anyway you'd do late Sept BanditFest?  Then come to the Guzzi OK campout on 10 Oct.

October 10th is a Sunday. Did you want to want to do the Guzzi camp before or after the Arkansas ride? You may have been looking at September.

I'd consider doing a late Sept. ride. Let's wait and see if anyone else wants to go and what there is availability is. I've also posted this on the Maximum-Suzuki site. I will have to move some vacation around to do that, so we'll have to have the dates pinned down in the next 2 or 3 weeks to do that. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do both though.

How did you like The Hub? I was thinking that might be a good spot to use for a group ride since it offers both a motel and camping. I'm open to suggestions though.

The Hub is OK.  They have a restaurant & meeting room there.  It's great for Rallies.  Catered a banquet for the RAT Raid.  About half way between Jasper (Ozark Cafe) and Harrison.  Lots of riders there.  Bonfire in the evening.  Best of all, the manager keeps beer and has a donation box and also does a liquor run on the weekend.  You might remember it's dry and 30 miles to the nearest liquor store.   :beers:

You might check there calendar.  They have quite a few bike rallies booked through the year.  They also don't require a credit card to hold the room.  Just call them and they book it.  Nice folks.  Plenty of rooms there too.

Someone drop me a PM when this thing gets ironed out and I'll see if I can't join you on my Bandit.  Sounds like some of you will be coming through Fort Smith and I live nearby.  I ride the Ozarks all the time.  Like yesterday, in fact, up around Fallsville.

Assuming I were to ride up Saturday morning out of Fort Smith, about 2 hours away, where would I look for you hooligans?

I'd like to stay at The Hub.  That's the motorcycle resort in the old Dogpatch.

Craig wrote me an e-mail mentioning camping.  If I camp, I might bring the RV.

At The Hub. http://hubinfo.com/index.html

In addition to the motel, there is tent camping available at the Hub. I don't know about RV spaces, but it would be worth a phone call to find out.

Craig & co,

The Hub is a "no go".  One of the HOG Chapters has overbooked the place.  I know the following weekend that Gold Wing riders have booked the place (the RAT Pack is also going the following the weekend and because of the GW riders had to book in Harrison).

We need to regroup and consider alternative location.

If many want to camp, I would propose we try to find a state park or federal camp site.  I can bring my RV.  Anyone not wanting to tent camp could share the RV and help with some expenses.  Most of the camp site will support RV, tent & 6 people.  I am open for recommendations.  I see Ark State Parks in Withrow Springs (Huntsville) (whuups, they're booked too) and Beaver Lake, and Ozark Forest.

Physics Teacher, since you live in the area, perhaps you have recomendations?  Private camping, cabins & Eureka Springs KOA parks OK too.

what about camping at Beaver Lake?  It's outside of Rogers and Springdale?
