Hey Jay, I had to tile a kichen for the 1st one. Had to get my van in oreder too. But I'm shooting for May 21st,for practice and the 30 min. mini enduro. In the mean time I'll send in for my 05 lisence,1 less thing to pay for later. I been watch for results from the 1st one. I seen endurance results in the forum, but nothing yet about how the new mini endurance went. Dan
-
cool ill see ya there im doing tech inspection and grids. :beers:
-
laid back as it gets come do a street school at the improving nelsons ledges !!! minimum bike prep. 8 hour blast on the track
-
I hope I do'nt get in the way,I check into the forum and lap times from time to time. I see in the 30 min. mini their running 1:14s 15s, I'd be happy to brake below 1:20 on the Bandit. I stopped by Kurt Utegs last week while on a ride (he lives on a nice riding rt.) He said they took the trees down around the carosel!and have plans on changing the track so you can run both ways. Intresting, how 'bout that #1 turn(13) after the front stright. Dan
-
I dodnt see it going backwards for a while no run off yet if 13 is 1 . they took trees out in turn 4 cause they are moving the corner in for more run off for cars. see ya there bro. youll get down to 17's
-

I'm working in town this week.My wheels are turning in my head, trying to think up a way to go Wend. practice and Sat. I do'nt really think I can afford to do both, and do'nt know if my tires will last both. But I sure would like to try. I'd have a better chance getting down in the 17s on Sat. if I had another chance to practice on Wend. I'm sure it wo'nt go over well with my wife. I have a tile kitchen counter splash to put in Tues.,grout Wend. thats my Nelson Ledges $. I'll see what I can do. Dan
-
verey ,verey HOT and Dan landers rode 30 minutes in it and did a hell of a job! :congrats: bro! Me i was ther damn near wensday to sunday except thursday had to work during the day ! went back up at night signed up for 3 raced one fell way of pace at the half way cramped up 96 degrees but did a 1:19.8 something getting back down slowly but surley! :beers:
-
Hot was right! Good thing I brought the cazebo for shade, I wet down my dew rag under my helmet befor going out for the 30min.
Do'nt know what my times were, they'll probably be posted later in the week. I could have pushed some more, but got into a rithym where I felt comfortable, and just mantained the pace. I beat 1 guy on a gsxr hwt. anyhow. I hav'nt tried comming out of the hole since I used to dirt track ages ago. I did'nt slip the clutch enough and the front came up,then I seen Doug Duanes wheel squeeze in and just got out of the way. 4th gear seems alittle high, I need to roll on as quick as I can at the end of the carosel, coming out wfo. But it takes to the trn10 till my Rs are up enough to hit 5th. Also loose time in 4,just can't get the lean angle that the race bikes get, befor scraping pegs. I let off a bit early befor cranking open through the kink too,I was getting a bit of frame flex but just gave her the gas all the way to 12. Man! those new brakes worked good! I could have definatly came in farther with a bit more practice.( in 1 too) I'm sure I can shave off atleast another second or maybe 2. But 1st concern was not throwing my 49yr. old body down the track. Hey Jay,how 'bout that Bill Bloom,70 yrs young and still racing! I did'nt see roamer, maybe next time. I'll try to make it in Aug. Dan
-
Bill blooms my idle Ive been trying to get them to name a corner after him! I raced with him in vintage when i first started! greta guy with a lot of stories and still fast! see at the wensday track day?
-
Aug.6th my grandson is having his 1st birthday party. So I won't be @ Nelson Ledges, but I am going to try and make it for the Wend. practice.
I just need enough time off work to change and go over things on my bike. Now it will be on my mind all day tommorow. I hope I make it.
-
good luck and have fun you and brian should hook up ! Ive banned bobs and fastraxx for awhile! Dont really know if ill go back at all! Been racing there for 6 years and feel pritty pissed on! So it might take awhile to wash all that off!

Sorry to hear that you got pissed on Jay. I hate it when that happens!
I put the gsxr shock on last night, tires, inspection, wire. Quit work early, showered and packed. All I have to do now is load up and head west for 2 hrs. Its going to be a hot one this afternoon all leathered up.
Time to go...Dan

Wend practice @ Nelson Ledges went great. That was the best I've done there so far. Do'nt have any lap times, but I know I picked up speed from the last time. Finally got a knee down too, kinda took me by surprise (turn4).I have to do some tuning, I can catch up to bikes picking up time in2,3,4,5, and the kink and coming into12.But I could'nt get by.(a TL,a750gsxr,and a yellow duc)once we straightened up they would pull their distance back. The Gsxr shock is the ticket. It gives me more ground clearence.I might put my WP shock up for sale.Got some complements, had a great time,no one went down, picked up speed.

I found my weakness was turn 1 , its so fast and the bike just seems to drift toward the grass no matter what you do . So I would slow it down some on the straight . My favorite is the corner just before the back straight , I think thats 8 & 9 ???? . Well any way that corner I was really hitting well (at least for me ) . I did have one of my laps timed and I pulled a 1m28sec . Dont know if thats good , I know I had my friend Dave on a buell lap me about every 8-9 laps . I would have done very poorly if it was a race . Im gonna try to do another practice in a month or so . :beers:
-
We'll have to meet up one of these times. I do'nt push turn 1 that much. I leave myself room to come out hard, stay on it through 2 and into 3. And I think it works to my advantage, because I gain on bikes there. I definatly want to do a 3hr. endurance race now! I just like going through traffic. (or trying to) But I think I might gear down some more. I'll have to get another rear sprocket and chain. So I can keep the rpm up and not dog out when trying to finish a pass. I'm running a 48 now, maybe jump up 2or3 more teeth. Then just keep this set for the street. I keep telling myself not to think about lap x, but you can't help it. I think I might have broke down into the 19s or low 20sWend. I Know I got alot more out of the Wend pracrice than I did the Sat practice and 30 min. mini enduro. I burnt up all the fuel I brought.I rode from 4:30 till 8:30 with a few breaks here and there.Worked on the turns I knew were slowing me down, got some input from pepole (Kathy and Jim). Good conversations, new friends, look foward to the next one.
-
Smooth operator , what tires are you running at the track ?
I currently run and love the pirelli diablo's . I got 5000 miles from the rear and just threw on a new rear . The front still has quite a bit of wear left on it , but again has 5000 miles on it . Would the front still be safe to run at nelson for practice . It looks fine , nice even wear , no flats , not near the wear indicaters or blueing or really anything wrong with it . Im asking cause I know its not always what the tire looks like that matters . I've only had them on the bike for about 2-3 months . What do you guys think ? Is it safe for a practice at nelson ? Or do you think the chances of me losing the front is to much .
-
I'm running Dunlop 208gp's. I have a extra set of rims, and I use them on the track only. Then I have Conti road Attacks that I switch back to for the street. I'm not sure about the Diablo's(compound/profile),if you did alright with them last time, then maybe your good to go. But I know a good set of tires not only helps in performance, but rider confidence as well.
-
glad you all had fun ! :beers:
-
I'll be back to Nelson Ledges on the 27th. Another local friend is going along too with his sv650. He raced it a few times but a new daughter and home improvments has kept him out for awhile. I'll do the morning practice and the 30 min. mini enduro. See how much my lap x times improve.
Roamr, if you can make it there, see ya then. I did see a Bandit on the mound watching the 3hr.enduro last time I went. Stopped to say hello,it wasn't anyone from the list.
-
Might just show up for the mini enduro . I cant race or anything , I never took the race school, It just happens that Bob told me I could run race practices without the school :duh: . Not sure why but it was fun . What time is your race gonna be sat ?
-
Registration is at 7:30,practice will be broke down into classes and run till lunch. Then 1:30 starts the ltw pratyice,2middle wt.2:30hvy. the 3hr starts right afterward. Practice only is only $65.the 30min is only another 10. ( if you have the $50 card for the year)
