Title: North Carolina gathering
Post by: daniel1 on September 27, 2006, 11:54:12 AM
We have a small group going down to Ashville the second week of October.  The place we have rented sits on 200 wooded acres and is fantastic.  The roads are TWISTYYYYY and we are about 1 hr from the gap.  Most of the people going down are from Maximum Suzuki but we have room for a few more.  Good group of frinedly people.  Big bon fires at nite to party around and swap lies.  The roads are as twisty as they can get.  we are planning a ride to the gap as well as the motorcycle museum in Maggy Valley.  Our first day is Oct 8th and we are heading home Oct 15th.  Anyone care to join us for the entire week or part of it?  Huge garage for the bikes and hot tub on the deck.  Some riders are bringing their significant others.  Gonna be a great time    For those that have been to the BRMC bash,  Ashville is not too far away.  Two of the guys going down are motorhead supreme's, both having built 200 hp normally aspirated and turboed monsters.  Anyone want to discuss future mods?????

Of course its ok!!!!  Can never have too many at a bash!!  Google cloud nine relaxation and you can find all the information you need.  Depending on how many people we have the cost per person per night can be as low as 20.00

:?: Hey Reggie, do you think that Canadian beer is really high octane or...is it just measuring it by metric numbers?

We will need to find a place for the 7th but there is always the park!   :thanks:  :bigok:  :beers:  :beers:

Hey wrecker they say cloud 9 don't they! You know more about it than I! You know us Flori"DA" folk!! A bud and i are just going to come up with the hope of finding a place if this doesn't pan out with the lodging? i hope the county jail has comfy bunks cause with all the leaf looker folk there this time of year we maybe SOL. They sound like a great group but no word since the warning on the beer thing!! Wonder on over on Sun. I hear those Max zuki riders are canyon carver killers!!!   :beers:  :beers:  :beers:

if you do a google for cloud nine relaxation you can find all the info.  I will also post the phone number that calls into the house we are staying at.  As far as the rides, a friend from the Maximum Suzuki site that lives in Ashville is putting together some routes and may lead for a few rides.  I will be talking with Janet at cloud nine tonite and post the number later.  Gonna be good to see some old friends and meet some new ones.  Hey wrecker, are you familiar with a map, think its called Mad Map, that highlites some of the roads and gives mileage of the loops, in and around the parkway?  Think I saw it when we were at the gap last spring.  Maybe some local bike shops carry it?

Daytona, we have the room....no problems at all. Stay for the whole week if ya want.  We are planning on arriving EARLY Sunday, like about 2 am grabbing some sleep then do the breakfast thing and ride.  Some of the guys that normally go for this bash are very quick,  too quick for this old man to hang with, although I do ride at ,  as the British would say, "sporting clip".  If everyone rides their own ride at their own comfort level, then we all have fun with no wrecks!  When we ride as a group no turns onto other roads are made until the whole group is together.  There is a big screen t.v. so if anyone has any bike flicks bring em, would really like to see Take it to the Limit if anyone has a copy.  Man I'm more excited than a 2 yr old at christmas!!!!!  Cant wait

We intend to leave the daytona area sat morning so would be good to know where we will end up. Phone # would be great to have.  :thanks:  :bigok:  :beers:

Daniel, I've seen these maps at the MR Motorcycle(dealer) and at Strick's Motorcycle(independent).  I will check and see if they are in  stock and available at the other shops as well. I'm interested in meeting with your friend in Asheville to share back road routes.

Man that is fantastic!!!  I just got in from work and was going to tell you that I would get in touch with Janet and plead your case.  I swear you wont meet any nicer people than Janet and Real (french Canadian name pronounced ree al).  Real is an absolute blast around the bon fire, he has some cool stories, that crazy bastard walked the whole apalaichan trail, over 2000 miles in 6 months!  He doesnt drink much, or should I say often, in fact the only time he has beers is with us when we are there.  I spoke with him early this week and he says he is due.  If you get in early enough on Saturday...actually why dont you pm me your phone number and best time to call tomorrow.  I am off work now till the end of next week YAHOOOO.  what time do you figure you will roll in on Saturday?

Hey Reggie, good to hear you and Rob made it home safely.  Had an absolute blast riding and hanging out with you two!  Your good fella's and good riders for sure!  As I mentioned to you Ester and I had a minor tip over, everything is good and we continued the ride, no injuries, just dinged pride.  We were not railing and actually going quite slow, I mean REAL slow, prolly no more than 5 mph when we tipped, momentary loss of concentration and drifted to the edge.  We all know about target fixation and I believe I fell victim even though I know better.  But you know I cant complain, only 2nd get off since 1970 and this was really minor.  I just took great pride in riding all these years and miles with Ester safely.  Had we been really cooking it I probably would have been focused and wouldnt have had any problem.  I certainly wasnt riding over my head, just one of those things I guess!  Cant open the picture link as it needs a password?  Cant wait to ride and party with you guys again :beers:

Got to sample Dave's 1277 bandit and man what a motor!!! tons of torque.  When mine needs freshning up thats the way I' m gonna go.  Hey Reggie and Rob, we are going home with one less bike, Dale sold his 06 bandit to Hank!  Rode back into chimney rock tonite and had the roads to ourselves, great spirited ride.  Hate to tell you this, but we gotta get up in the morning and do it again
