Title: Pacific Northwest
Post by: Red01 on June 24, 2005, 01:57:12 AM
Since I didn't want to steer Pete's Seneca Rocks (http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=1708) thread off track, I started a new one to respond to 12sdrag's statement.

Can`t even imagine what it would be like to ride in Paul`s neck of the woods.

Let me help you with a few pics then.

Hurricane Ridge on the north end of the Olympic Penninsula

Crescent Lake, also on the Oly Penn.
The lake is ~1 mile wide, 10 miles long and 660' deep (100 feet below sea level, which is only a few miles away, to the left as you look at this pic).

A small portion of the 360* view from the top of 2300' Mt. Constitution on Orcas Island - the highest point in the San Juan Island chain in Puget Sound. The road to the top is 5 miles - with 80+ curves.

Here's a shot from the North Cascades Highway. Rated as the best motorcycle road in the state by Destination Highways. (http://www.destinationhighways.com/)
(click on the link to check out some of WA & BC's greatest roads)

OK, this one's not in WA, but in neighboring Idaho.

That is beautiful Paul. You don't see that in Indiana. I could send you a picture of a really nice soybean field though.

Keep it up, Paul.   I'm considering a blast out to Colorado to post some competing pictures.
  (Damn gas prices...) :duh:

We've got some of that here, too... along with apple & cherry orchards and potato crops (WA is #1 in those "fields" - even if Idaho's potatos are more famous). We also grow more tulips and daffodils in two counties than they do in all of the Netherlands - in fact, they import from us!

That's not bad, but there are better, less travelled roads, IMHO.
