Title: REDBACK TOURERS - ONCE BITTEN RALLY
Post by: aussiebandit on March 03, 2005, 06:54:16 AM
Just refresh peoples memory the club I'm with are holding their 5th Annual Redback Once Bitten Rally on the weekend of 18-20 March at the Humula Citizens Sports Club (NSW).  Approx 25Km south of Tarcutta.

Usual Rally stuff - Gymkhana, raffles, beer, Entertainment (Juke Box), beer, Awards oh and did I mention beer.  The Club has a 24hr licence.

The Sports Club will be providing very reasonably priced food from Lunch on Saturday through to breakfast on Sunday.  The roast beef rolls are the best I've ever had.

Entrance Cost is $15.00 including rally badge.

For more information send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you a flyer.

The minister and I are giving work a miss on friday so we can enjoy the back roads, so we should be pulling in around 4-5pm friday night, did you mention something about beer, I'll have one of them with ya about ten minutes after I drag me sorry butt of the bike and to the, "did you say beer tent" Sorry I'll be a bit hard of hearing by the time I get there. With the remus can and the minister of war on the back, nag nag nag, I would have gone into that corner BLAH BLAH BLAH. See Ya There folks

Thanks, actually had a great ride today beut weather, 21c, sunny, winding roads, good company, great food and the beer was cold (or so I'm told).

We did a quick sortie to the rally site at Humula and the locals were in the middle of a working bee, the site is looking good.

They even suggested we use their pool table for a pool comp - great idea wish we'd thought of it.

The minister of war has cracked it, with the idea of riding all that way on the back with me.   So she is going to ride the Ho Hon Hooon oh bugger it that bucket of bolts thing she calls a bike  Just hope she dont crack it totally with the bloody thing jumping outta gear all that way, although it does not seem to do it outta top gear. Hmmm  she will be bitchin if we come up via the back way  While she was playing cricket today I went for a blast up thru the two spurs, the black was ok but reefton was damp up top, but all in all a good way to waste away 3 hours

Mick, anyone ever tell you that you're a bum.   The 2 spurs run is only something I can dream of.

We've got roads like that near here, well when I say near here I mean a 100km ride to get to them and alot of that usually means running the gauntlet of the  NSW Polite Farce.

Anyway, baby sitting, if the 9yr old ever caught me saying that he'd kill me, has been organised for the rally         - the Treasurer and myself should be there mid morning - although my gear is going with El Presidente with the rest of the rally stuff.

I know im a bum
But hey ya aint got it to bad up there, At xmas we road up past the tumut dams, between khancoban and Kiandra, man you got ya own slice of bike riders heaven up there. And as for the alphine way,   you call me a bum. Have the NSW cops got them unmarked bikes with video cameras mounted on them to tape you having a bit of fun  If ya ever down this neck of the woods watch out for fast catching motorcycles, who catch up then sit with you, as if to egg you on, more than likely a cop turn around and smile your on the Victorian police candid camera.

Great news, see you both at the rally site saturday. we will be pretty easy to find, just look for Donna's pink Hoo Hooon, bucket of bolts

The cop bikes don't have camera's (I don't think) but the cars do.

What I was thinking was on Saturday, weather, time and hangovers permitting.  I would introduce you to one of my favourite roads.  We effectionatly call it "Gods Road" the road the God Created and the RTA havn't f$%ked up.

From the Tumut end there is a sign the indicates 5km winding road, 5km later there is a sign that indicates 5km winding roads.  It is pretty safe to average 120-130km- except for the couple of K's at the Tumut end.  If you can avg much more than 100 there then you're a better rider than I ever hope to be.

The ride report.
Well myself and the little lady, left Melbourne at around 9:30, friday morning, she in doors and I will agree to disagree for some time :duh:    Anyway the weather was :bigok: perfect, both bikes behaved themselves, and we had a pretty none eventfull ride to the border, then it had to happen the locusts plague we southerners have been reading about, climbed out the wood work and gave it to us, so for the last 130 ks we copped it ouch them buggers hurt, hmm and dont they smell nice sizzling away on the exhaust. Anyway a great weekend put on by the guys and girls at the redback tourers  :thanks: :beers: . Many new friends made and a damm good time had by all, including paki, who must have won the drunk of the rally award and if there is not one maybe next year there should be :beers: . And also a big thank you :thanks:  :beers:  :bigok:  :congrats: to Aussie bandit for leading us to, Gods road ( Local thing ) Magic magic magic, hmm that new hoop on the back is scrubbed in real good now cheers bloke that was a blast. We packed this morning and hit the road at 9:05 yes we do agree on this and walked thru the door back at home at 2.55, No locusts no hassles No problems weather for the whole weekend perfect. Thanks Mick all them kids you made sacrifice to the weather gods worked a treat. :beers:

Glad you had a good time and made it home safely mate...and thanks for coming it was most enjoyable - maybe next time the minister of war will have a bike that works properly and she can have a go at "Gods Road" herself.

The locusts must have migrated slightly north - cause we got absolutely splattered on the way home.

You may have scrubbed your rear in niclely, but I destroyed the my front, the Treasurer is not particularly happy - but shyte happens.

Refresh my memory re the Shinko's and compounds.

cheers

Funny bout your front looking a bit sad, my front was balling up too :boohoo: And there was me wondering why her indoors was showing me white knuckles   Now back to the purpose of this post
I run the 009 on the rear of the b6, its the hardest of the shinko range rated as a sports tourer. The next softest is the 005 makes a good front so I have been told. Then for the real loonie tunie the sports 003. soft enough that some say "I carnt believe it aint butter". Bruce Collins Enterprises is the wholesale distributor here in Vic if you have trouble.

I checked with the local Bike tyre specialists and he had heard of Shinko's, infact he used to sell lots of them, but after a few people experienced "failures" their popularity dropped off.

Anyway he can do me a 'deal' on an M1 front for $199, which to me sounds pretty damn good.

The next hurdle though is getting the treasurers Duke a new chain and sproket set and a service. No change from $1000.00.

The other crappy thing is when we picked the youngest up from the babysitters Janice just happened to look at the rego label, due 1st April,  :duh:   so the front tyre is going to have to last a bit longer yet.  I suppose I'll just have to ride a bit slower round corners for a while. :crybaby:

Paki, Septic -  I even have trouble understanding those two, the Yanks and Canadians would have buckleys.
