Title: W. Virginia
Post by: Silverstreak on February 09, 2007, 01:28:07 AM
I never made it to the Dragon last spring. Last minute change so I took my daughter down to PA to ride the 6's. It was pretty damn cold.

This spring I want to check out WV. Looking at the map I don't think there's more than two miles of straight road anywhere in the state. I here they balance the budget with speeding tickets. Is there any truth to that?

Any route recommendations?

The ticket thing depends on what town you're going through...

I can give you some excellent route links from other boards that I frequent which cover different parts of the state.  We do have some mighty fine roads for all types of riders / styles.  I like the twisties myself.

For the northern and eastern parts, one of my riding partners from last summer's ST.N national gathering has a page of his own.  Garry is past ride leader for a group of Triumph riders and he is based out of PA  He rides a lot in WV though and has excellent ride reports.

Before the great crash of ST.N we had several ride routes for WV on the board, but I think that most of the folks rely on member ride report links such as Garry's.  You're welcome to visit ST.N and look around.

Garry did a ride report for last summer's ST.N rally at Canaan Valley (on his site) and we covered some of the best roads around eastern WV and VA.

For routes in the southern part of the state you can check out WV Sport Touring:

Jeff and Jamie have several favorite routes and you can see a preview of many by way of videos on the site.  If you like super twisty action then check out Rt 16 due south of Welch to the border of VA.

By the way, everyone is welcome.

You won't be disappointed with W. Virginia.  Try the Seneca Rocks area.  Great public campground there too.  Roads are very well maintained.  Also banked like a race track.  Very little traffic and very few cops.

top two for me would be rt 250 out of st clairesville we run it out of southern ohio and run it down to hundred w.v. to rt 7 and take it back west to ohio. only been in that little corner so far but liked what i saw. we have never run into any enforcement on our rides but it is a very rural area so?
