Wow , had an amazing time . I logged in a total of 281 miles on the track . I rode the perfomance school in the first part of the day , then I was invited to ride with the racers practicing for sat race . Boy was I slow in comparison to the racers , I was 10-12 seconds a lap  off the guys practicing . I just tried to be predictable so they could slide right by me . It does seem to be 3-4th gear course , boy was I tired at the end of the day . I've got to work on getting up and outa the seat more .
I had a few close calls : turn one nearly got me .Its a 5th to 4th gear corner  , I was carrying to much speed from the straight . The turn curves right fairly nice sweeper , I leaned here over and still was heading for the grass . So I leaned all the way until my peg ,header and knee touched , but atleast I stayed on line . This scared the crap outa me . The other time was turn 4 a nice tight 3 to 4 th gear corner going left . I could hear my friend Dave on his buell coming up behind me . So I keep up my speed and hold my line . Little did I realize I was probably 10 mph faster than before and the bike starts a two wheel drift (confirmed by Dave later) . So Dave is setting up to pass me on the outside , but the outside is disappearing cause Im sliding . All of a sudden I hear a thunderous sound and in a split second he's gone with about a 6 inch patch of pavement to spare . Later on I come up to apolagize to him and instead he shook my hand and said " thanks for holding your line even when sliding , if you would have slowed up you would have run me off the track " This was one of the best thanks I've gotten, being he's a seasoned racer . Later on that night I had a few beers and felt unusually calm and relaxed . I was very proud of myself . For the first time in a while I had gotten the need for speed outa my system . I wonder how long it will be before I get the urge back .
Gsxr 400 racer good to meet ya , you definetly know your bikes . You passed me with such ease , I got some practicing to do . The people at the track were great , we had a few mishaps , but the ambulance wasnt needed all day .
I learned alot , kept the bike on the track and upright ,,,was a good day . I highly reccommend this to anyone , it will surely help your riding . It taught me that I have much more to learn , and save the speed for the track .

Do you know the name of the guy that was taken pictures during the school ? He was sitting at differ turns snaping away . I was hoping he would post the pix on a website somewhere . Was it Motorsports photo ?

Brian - read that book (Total Control) about getting outta the seat.  It helps.  Sounds like a friggin blast!  You just gotta have faith that the bike has more ability to get through that turn than you do.  I'm doing my first track day on the 11th at Pocono.  Can't wait!

Wow , had an amazing time.

It's just the best thing for sheer outright riding on your personal edge.
Of course, the street sucks for that. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you find a way to get on the track as much as you want. I know it's a long way from you but, the club me and Breantley ride with is doing our annual Barber Motorsports Park Track Weekend in September. Get Kent and Mike and come on. I'm camping at the track.

Anyway brother, glad you enjoyed it. @81 miles sounds brutal.
