Author Topic: 06 B12 Aftermarket Exhaust and jet kits. (Read 4097 times)

In the spring I intend to have a Yosh slipon on my bike. When I queried the mechanics about the need for carb adjustments, their best answers were; 'Maybe' and 'I don't think so.' So I am still looking for definitive answers to this question. Can you just slipon an aftermarket exhaust without touching the carbs or are adjustments necessary? My stock exhaust actually shows a small catylitic converter in it. Don't expect the Yosh to have this so that means more flow thru. And that changes things. Don't want to install carb kits as what I'm really after is just smaller, better looks and a little more growl than stock. Love to hear the real Poop. Anyone got any?

I've got an 04 B12, I put on a Hindle slip on, all I had to do is shim the needles .040 and it runs great!!

Turn out your air/fuel screws and shim the needles will get you by till you get a jet kit to really wake you up.

for the cost of a jet kit just get one and be done with it . or when you finally do get it a few years down the road you will kick yourself in the arse for not doing it sooner .yah it makes that much of an improvement

Ya, what the hell. When I get the pipe, I'll get the jet kit and the spark advance just for the hell of it. Damn thing's too slow anyways. Lol.

Save the money on the ignition advancer. Just get the jet kit. (Ivan's or Factory Pro.)

Oh... and by the way.... what Yosh pipe did you end up buying?

A jet kit and the Yosh pipe should give you a total of 120rwhp or better, not to mention removing any flat spots in rpm range and making it not so cold-blooded. You'll really enjoy the performance ( I know I do and I ride a 1st gen. B6).

Why, about the advancer? Not worth the bucks? Doesn't really do anything? And I haven't really bought the pipe yet. She comes off the road at months' end. Then a bit of a sleep. Then the 6000km tuneup, completely done by myself with the help of the shop manual. (I'm not payin the Stealers$300 again!) And the new look and feel for March.

Optimistic, are we? As I have said before, a slip-on and jet kit is not going to take you up to 120 hp. Up to the 110-113 range, yes it will.

I would say YES, you need the kit. I've tried guessing what jets I would need befor,and by the time you get the right combo you might as well get the kit. I start by reading the plugs, if your just putting a slip on can you may not have to go up much. You might be able to just go up 1 in the mains andjust the fuel screws and shim the needles.(so then you could just buy the jets, instead of the kit. But the more you mess with it(intake/exhaust) the more fidleing you'll have to do, with full exhaust you'll need to change your piolots too.To get it dialed in, plan on diving in there more than once. Depends on the kit, I guess. Ivan says the advancer makes no difference with his kits. Holeshot & Factory Pro tend to respond to the advancer with crisper throttle resonse in the mid range.
