My shop manual shows two settings on the monoshock. Wondering if the damping settings actually lower the bike as at 5'9" with a short leg, I sit just a tad high on the bike. An inch lower and I'd be there. Are there any lowering methods I should know about? And I guess if the mono is adjusted down, the forks would need to be equally adjusted to prevent the ride from going out of whack, right?

I take it you have the seat adjusted to it's lowest position, right?

The adjustments on the shock will not make any real difference in ride height. The only adjustments are spring preload and compression damping.

You can lower the bike by dropping the triple clamps down on the fork tubes or by changing the links in the rear suspension for longer ones.

If you're looking for a 1" drop but don't want to alter the suspension geometry, an aftermarket seat can do it for you. I don't know if Suzuki Canada offers a lower gel seat for the 3G Bandit or not. I doubt Corbin has a seat for your Bandit since the 3G isn't sold in the US, so you may have to look at Euro vendors.

According to my shop manual, the bike comes with a two setting seat. The default is the lower setting. The seat is actually already so thin and already not that comfortable that I can't see any lower seat doing the trick for me. Solving the one problem might just increase the other.  That is interesting about a longer link for the rear. I wonder if any are available?

Don't be deceived.  The stock seat is crap foam.  So a thinner custom or factory gel seat is actually lower and more cofortable on longer rides (less ass numbing).  Most don't believe it til they actually try it.

Here's a"BA how to post" you missed on rear suspension linkage DIY project.

I am curious about the bar stock and weather the bones he replaced were of thr same material, treated or otherwise.

It's been a while since I played with mine (I went with shorter ones for a while, then went back to stock when I installed a 'Busa shock that's longer than the stocker).  IIRC, the stock pieces are aluminum, so the bar stock is most likely stronger.

I lowered my wifes B6 with diamond powersports dog bones. They were meant for a B12 however, so the stock", 1", and 2" inch lower setting (holes) actually worked out to 1", 2" and 3" lower setting on the B6 (they didnt tell me there'd be a difference initially).

This said, we have the bones on their alleged "stock settings" which actually make the bike 1" lower, we also lowered the triple clamp 1&1/4 inches also to retain its geometry. I'm guessing the 03 frame is damn close to the 06 (yours), so if an inch is all you require, aftermarket dog bones should do the trick, just make sure you lower the front proportionately, otherwise good luck steering!

Measure your BONES and the distance between the two holes, and contact diamond for their same measurements on their BONES, remember, the shorter the BONE or distance between holes, the TALLER the bike will be. :clubme: (took me a while to wrap my head around that one!)
