Hiya,
Posting this on behalf of a good friend who has a 95 600 Bandit.
Basic outline of the problem is he was out for a run - about 10 miles into the journey - wound the throttle back to pick up some speed. Revs hit around 8000 and it started misfiring/spluttering to the point where it would not accelerate further, winding more throttle on didn't help, backing off made it worse. He pulled the clutch in and it died on him.
Limped it home but it cut out a lot.
He's got the bike in bits and cant see anything obvious and has asked for my advise! i've messed with cars for years but never touched a bike, only real thoughts could be out of balance carbs?
Bit random with the symptoms but any help would really be appreciated
Cheers

Basic troubleshooting Q's...
Got spark? Fat, blue spark?
Got gas, unhindered by crap in tiny passages?
Got good compression in all 4 holes? Within 10-15% of each other?
The carbs may be out of balance, but a) carbs don't usually go out of balance all of the sudden and b) at 8000 RPM, carb balance won't have any serious effects.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
We sorted it in the end, after removing the carbs and giving them a good blast with the carb cleaner, checking the tank and filter for sediment and checking all of the pipes on the bike we finally found the problem.......the airfilter :stickpoke:
Would you believe it? It didnt look blocked but holding the new and old up to the light it was plain obvious!!
One happy biker, back on the road
