Title: 99 600s won't rev
Post by: Denverbandit99 on August 24, 2005, 03:43:34 AM
I recently bought a '99 600s. First bike, and it ran beautifully; until the day I got my motorcycle license. Now it idles, but when I try to rev with the choke off it just sputters and eventually dies. Any ideas? And is the Haynes manual worth getting for a bike? I've had one for all of my cars, but never owned a bike before. Thanks guys

Probably the 1st thing I would do is check the plugs and see what they look like, then go from there. The Haynes manual is great. Its helped me out step by step in whatevere the project on hand may be.

If your bike still has the tool kit, it has a plug wrench which works well otherwise it takes a real thin wall socket.  Check your vacuum lines as well, if one is kinked it won't draw enough fuel.  Also, make sure your fuel petcock is in the run position and not on prime.  Other  than that, dirty carbs may be a problem.  lots of posts in here on how to clean them without removing them.
