Hi,
seriously considering buying the 06 Bandit - However I'd like to get the ABS option but my country doesn't seem to offer it. Wondering if I could buy over internet (canada/UK?) and fit it myself ...
:)

I've never heard of anyone retrofitting ABS to a Bandit, but I'd think it could be done. It would probably be pretty expensive, even if you were able to source all the parts needed from used sources. Since it's not offered in your country, don't forget to figure in what the shipping would cost. You'd probably need access to the parts catalogs for both models so you can see what all is different.
What country are you in? Is it possible to import an ABS model on your own?

I'm from Australia, just an idle thought - You are right it is probably prohibitively expensive. I'm more annoyed with Suzuki though for not offering it as an option.

How difficult would it be to get a gray-market ABS model? You Aussies get all sorts of other gray-market bikes, couldn't you talk to an importer about getting you one?

You know I think ABS is a total crock of shyte.
And yes I have tried ABS out on both 2 and 4 wheels.
Hate it, and really is only for people who can not ride or drive.
Better off spending the money on advanced riding or driving courses.
Dont mean to offend, but with all these driver/rider aids, really only serves to make us lazy, and erode the skills required to operate bikes/cars. Even in extreme weather areas, a good car/bike operator still at time needs the ablity of being able to lock a wheel/wheels is get out of some circumstances. Removing the ability of lock up brakes only removes one set of dangers and puts it somewhere else. Or in my case the ABS took over going down a very step hill, wet/ muddy/ and corrigated, thank you very much no brakes at all. Thank my lucky stars the hand brake still was operative but still I went straight through an intersection and came to a stop a foot of 2 from a 30 foot drop into a icy fast flowing river. Oh yeh, I did know the condition of the road and as I approached the down hill section of the road I stopped the car and put it into Low gear. It was not down to driver error, it was the shytefull ABS taking control and leaving me with no brakes at all, over corrigated roads, yes the fuse was pulled to disable the system from the very next day onwards, sure the light on the dash gave me the shytes, but the very next time I went down that hill I didn't even come close to ending up in the drink.
ABS may in a perfect world with perfect roads and perfect conditions, a good thing. But I dont know about where you guys live, but neither are here.
My 2 cents worth.
Climbing into fire retardent suit.

Dont really see hte point of it meself, but each to their own, if someone wants something sure why not. your not harming anyone.

Man am i with Mick on this! I have never said i'm glad i have ABS!! The other way around. I had to hoof it back to camp,10 miles to get a Bud & his Ford to yank my big bad dodge out of the ditch that ABS put me in!!! Need to stop in sand? "FL has a bit of it" the wheel needs to skid to dig in to do this! ABS won't let it! Not needing to do an Oh shyte stop @ 1:30 am going to fetch another load of brewsky's after others were consumed, in the middle of bum futch, with no cell service will help uncomplicate your life tooo. :duh: :monkeymoon: :beers:

Hi
The UK has only just got the ABS model Bandits (not seen one on the roads yet). However, thought Aus got them years ago (remember seeing one on the Suzuki stand at the 1996 Sydney car / bike show).
All the best
