Title: Additional Brake lights
Post by: rocketman1 on November 28, 2005, 09:00:10 PM
I am wanting to fit an additional braking light or LEDs to the rear of my 2001 Bandit, just to be more easliy seen I guess, my friend says when following me with the bright sun on my tail it sometimes a little difficult to immediately tell if the brake lights are on or not ( bright sun in NZ)
Can anyone help with any aftermarket accessories that may do the trick, that are not too hard to fit
Cheers

Try a search for SOS, which I think stands for Stand Off Safety or something similar, or taillight modulators.

They sell fairly cheap taillight modulators and other safety lighting products.

Some states don't allow flashing red lights at the rear unless they're IN ADDITION to regular stop lights.  MN is one of those.  I added two extra light modules (home made) to the underside of my GIVI rear rack.  They contain dual filament LED taillight bulbs.  I only wired in the flashing filament to the brake light circuit so the normal brake lights work as always.

I found dual filament sockets at the auto parts store, the plastic boxes at Radio Shack and some clear lenses at a motorcycle shop.  A bit or work but the installation looks okay and works well.

I've got a Signal Dynamics dual LED license plate bracket.  Real easy to wire up. I had to trim my plate with tin snips a little, but it works great.  I also installed a back-off module and have gotten lots of positive feedback about how visible I am from the back.
