My stock '03 B12 has never wanted to start or idle when cold, without the choke halfway on. (Even if it's 95 degrees outside) Just had a local shop do my 7500 mi. valve adjust. and had them synch the carbs while they were at it. Suddenly, the bike starts and idles, albeit slowly, with no choke at all. I didn't expect this result. I assume the carbs were way out of synch?

could be, or they could have been dirty. How much did the 7500 mile service run you? I'm due, but I'm not sure if I want to do it myself or have a shop do it.

Valve adjust + carb synch $161.00.
This was @ a local independent bike shop, not a dealership.

I think its more likely that they changed your idle speed. They had to do that when they did the carb synch. They turn the idle up to 1750 rpms, check/balance the carbs, and then turn down the idle speed to 1200-1300 rpm.
I need to start charging for the valve adjusts I do for friends. At that price (which is a fair price BTW) I could pay for tires....
(I'm kidding Jay)

Not my fault you won't hang around for ribs and beer.... but the offer still stands when you get a chance. :beers:
FWIW.... Dave is very generous with his time and knowledge - he teaches well and is very thorough. :thanks: Hmmmm... guess he's right - I'll fax a check right over Dave. :stickpoke: :bigok:
