I still follow Hyosungs closely as I was very interested in the new GV 650. But reading about owners having things fall off as they ride down the road or engines seizing up after 1000 km. makes me thank my lucky stars I ride a Bandit.
Just wondering how the rest of you feel about your bike so I wanted to do a poll.... Have you been happy with it? Could it have been better?
Of course, owners of older bikes are going to have more problems but maybe you could vote on a 'pro-rated' basis, if you get my drift....
:thanks:

Bandits are pretty reliable, Jim, except for that pesky fatal exploding engine thing that's going around.
But other than that! :bigok:

Fatal Exploding engines?

The only thing that has been a problem on my bike has been ME.

Don't worry about it, Brian. Yours probably isn't one of them. You know, what are the odds?

I can see that!
At least I actually ride it!

Oh, really? OK, how much time did you spend in the saddle last weekend? 3.5 hours for me. What'cha got, huh?

Dude, I wasn't trying to call you out on this! But since you asked: Saturday I rode back from Atlanta, putting in about 7 hours and about 475 miles, capping off a 1600+ mile week.

 You wasted me, man! I'm so depressed.

I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD POST A NOTE ABOUT MY BANDIT.....I DON'T WANT TO JINX IT'S BULLET PROOF RELIABILITY.....
I HAVE NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH MY BANDIT.....I DO MY MAINTENANCE AND CHANGE MY OIL (DINOSAUR OIL) EVERY 3,000 MILES AND IT JUST KEEPS GOING, AND GOING, AND GOING.....
STARTS UP EVERY DAY, NO HASSLE, NO HESITATION.....I CAN PARK IT FOR A MONTH (WHICH IS RARE), COME OUT, PUT THE KEY IN AND IT WILL START RIGHT UP.....NO BATTERY TENDER EITHER (I THINK THAT THE TENDER ACTUALLY SHORTENS THE LIFE OF A MOTORCYCLE BATTERY}.....
TO QUOTE AN OLD T.V. SHOW....."NO BRAG, JUST FACT." (THE GUNS OF WILL SONNET)
SUZUKI BANDIT RULES!!! :gatlin

Very cool, Getfurious, and not bad for a 1200, either!! How many miles now?
jim

I don't know how many miles GETFURIOUS has on his, but I've got a little over 40,000 miles on mine. Nothing but smiles in that time. I know there's several B12's on Max-Suz with over 100K miles and a couple with >200K miles and a motorcycle courier who'd sold his, still running fine, with >300K miles.
FWIW, I also have a '94 Geo Tracker (re-badged Suzuki Sidekick) with >225K miles, so I think Suzuki has the reliabilty thing down pretty good... a lot better than they did when they kicked out my '66 Suzuki K15P 80cc trailbike. I think I broke every gear in it's gearbox at least once and can't count how many times it siezed.

B4 starts up and runs good!. one of the better bikes i have owned

THE MILES ARE 17,434.....NOT A LOT FOR A 2001, BUT IT HAS ONLY BEEN WITH ME FOR A YEAR.....THE FIRST (PREVIOUS) OWNER HAD THREE BIKES TO RIDE, SO THE MILES GOT SPREAD OUT.....
MY SON AND I JUST DID 190 MILES ON FATHER'S DAY.....WE TOOK A RIDE THROUGH THE BACK ROADS TO SUMMIT POINT RACE TRACK IN WEST VIRGINIA TO WATCH THE CYCLE RACES.....
WE HAD A GREAT TIME.....MY BEST FATHER'S DAY IN A LONG TIME.....
I HAD THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.....MY BIKE AT A RACE TRACK AND MY SON RIDING WITH ME ON FATHER'S DAY.....
WE WANTED TO STAY ALL DAY, BUT AT 97 DEGREES AND 100 PERCENT HUMIDITY, WE DECIDED TO CALL IT A DAY AT ABOUT 3:30 P.M......
WE BLASTED DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON THE WAY BACK.....JUST NEEDED TO GET TO SOME A/C TO COOL OFF.....
I CAN'T WAIT TO GET 40K ON MY BANDIT LIKE Red01.....SUZUKI BANDIT, WHAT A GREAT BIKE..... :toocool:

Two Harley’s and one Suzuki and the Bandit is the one leaking oil. Go figure !!!! Not to mention the hassle of cleaning and lubing a chain every other week. However, my choice for the most fun to ride is definitely the bandit. So I put a piece of cardboard under it to catch the chain grease droppings and wipe the oil off the valve covers. (Yes I’ve tried to stop the leaks with new gaskets and “O” rings and sealer and concrete and heliarc, etc). Actually I love all my scooters and wouldn’t trade any of them. Scooters - in - the - wind

The B12 is 30,000km and 4 yrs old, and other than the nasty stuff I've done to it - like falling off, it hasn't missed a beat. 30,000km is not much, but it gets ridden just about every day to and from work which is only a 12km round trip - not good for a big bike - but the B12 just keeps on keeping on.
Now, I may be a bit biased (owned nothing but Suzuki's), but if I HAD to buy another bike, I'd buy another B12.
-
Really, a great bike. Just the other day the wife said how come I am not sick of my bike. She knows me well  . I have had this one since I bought it new in '97. I just told her if there was one bike that I am completely happy with - my Bandit. I have done a few mods, put the busa brakes, rejetted with K&N, and an 900 can. Runs well. I think I might do the timing advancer and a yosh? maybe. Dont want to be loud.
Somebody earlier mentioned oil from chain? Try chainwax. I have used it exclusively for years. Very good protection from the elements and keeps the chain quiet. No fling.
-
The only issues I've had with the B12 is because of me doing mods. I.E. exhaust, jet kit, different turn signals. I think I have all the glitches taken care of, so hopefully it will do fine now.
-
I got my '04 in April of the same year. I have >24,000 miles now, and no problems. With the new can, it's like a new bike again!!
-
I sometimes look at the B4 with a biased look. So far the problems that have arisen are completely logical (CDI broken as resulting of broken R/R), but sometimes for example when i push the bike really hard, like staying in the 13k zone quite long, i'm almost expecting it to blow up or something to go wrong..
Amazingly it hasn't. Should i change my look on things, i think not... I might get too cocky
