Title: Boiling Battery
Post by: mohana on July 04, 2010, 04:50:47 AM
After I come back from a ride the battery seems to be putting the battery water over the back end of the bike which means the wheel, chassis etc is getting etched from the acid. Would I be correct in assuming the regulator/rectifier ? is stuffed? The bikes a 2000 GSX1200Y, basically a bandit with different bodywork.

If you're using a battery in which you can add water I'd replace it with a sealed one.

BTW..........   :welcome: to the site.  Good luck with fixing your problem and let us know how it gets resolved.

Yep almost definitely a fried rectifiier/regulator. 80V AC will boil a battery dry quickly.
