Title: Broke a plastic tab of my fairing. Will it effect anything?
Post by: fake on December 13, 2005, 01:24:25 PM: I Took the side mirrors off, then the black plastic piece that the surrounds the windshield. Anyways, I broke a tab off on the black piece. It bolted on fine and seems secure, but should I worry at HWY speeds of it coming off.

If it's still got some screws through it, it won't come flying off. It may rattle or buzz a bit more, though.

Being behind the windsheild and inside the fairing, it doesn't see much wind.

There are some little tabs that fit inside the fairing. Mine has a couple of those broke and I've had it up to 115 like that. If that's what you're talking about, don't worry about it.

Post by: Sven on December 13, 2005, 04:01:45 PM: I've taken than piece on and off to do a couple things. The mirrors will keep it from coming off, but as was noted above, it MIGHT make a little more noise. If it does, a bit of double-sided foam tape or even a dab of silicon glue/caulk would anchor it more firmly without being impossible to remove later when needed.

Post by: Red01 on December 13, 2005, 09:10:05 PM: If it's one of the little tabs on the side, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If it was the big one at the bottom, that would be of more concern.

Post by: rider123 on December 13, 2005, 09:35:22 PM: Those tabs don't really do too much. I haven't broken one off yet but from that site(blade bandit?) which tell you how to take the fairing off says it works just fine without the tabs.
