Title: Cam chain tensioner replacement question.

The cam chain tensioner has decided its ready to retire on my GSF250V.

I'm new to bikes and want to learn how to work on my bike myself, so i've decided I going to take a shot at replacing the cam chain tensioner.

Looking at the service manuals for the gsf400 and across it appears pretty easy.

1) remove the fuel tank
2) unbolt the cam chain tensioner through the two bolts that hold it to the engine.
3) bolt on the new one
4) fuel tank back on.
5) all done.

Is it really as easy as that or am i missing something. Any tips would be great.

<WARNING>This is for the tensioner on the B12. I just noticed you have a 250. I don't know if they are the same style. Two housing allen bolts with a 19mm or so big bolt in the middle?

You might want to make sure the adjuster is gently 'tensioning' against the chain before the spring and bolt goes on.

Before installation, push the tensioner all the way back 'open', install and use an allen wrench to gently push it (click, click click)in towards the engine until you feel a little tension against the chain. Then you can install the spring and the bolt. Don't jam it in there. That's all.
