hi, Im having problems with my jets, and want to try using a carbie cleaner such as ...Chevron TECHRON® Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner.... which I saw posted on this site, or Motul 4 stroke fuel system cleaner..

I am living in Japan, I could not fine the above brands but but a Japanese brand, now my japanese is not that good, so could not really understand everything the sales assistant was telling me, but what I did hear was dont use the whole bottle in one tank, he said it was very bad and you could kill the engine.. It is a 300ml bottle and its good for 50 litres of gas..

My question is, posted on this site someone said they used a whole bottle of chevron TECHRON cleaner in one go, and then let the bike sit for a few days, and then after the bike was good as gold.. Should I be foolish and try the same thing OR should I take it easy like the sales assistant said ?? what could be the bad results if I use the whole bottle ??

So i have tried just putting a little bit in today, and will see what the results are ?? But I just wanted to hear what other peoples thoughts are on the subject..

My personal opinion is that I wouldn't use the whole bottle at once. I dumped a whole bottle of TECHRON in my 50 hp boat engine and it ran a little goofy while it was working through that particular tank of gas.

The boat engine has a 6 gallon tank for comparison. I also used the normal TECHRON as opossed to the concentrated version. The B12 holds about 4 gallons of gas I think.

I can tell you that my boat runs perfect now. The TECHRON cleaner is far superior to the SEA FOAM cleaner that I had always used in the past.

I don't see how letting any carb cleaner 'sit' in the gas tank for a couple days (or forever, for that matter) is going to clean gunked up needles and carb innards.

And I've left two bikes go over the winter without draining the carbs or using Stabil... and both times NO amount of carb cleaner would get it right. They needed to be dissassembled & cleaned.

That was years ago, however. Maybe Techron would work now, but you'd still have to actually run it through the engine, IMO.

I know that I've had some serious gumming up problems when I first got my bandit, had to take the bike back to the dealer within the first week to get them cleaned (bought it used with 7500 miles) ever since then I have used 1/4 -> 1/2 a bottle of carb cleaner every other tank of gas and the bike has been down right flawless starting/running since.
