OK, so I'm prepared to rejet the carbs if I have to. But I could use some cleaning tips in the meantime. Also, after I get the carb kit (Or now even) how do I get the pipes back to bright?

They'll never get back to 'silver', but they'll shine with an 'orangish/brownish' hue.
Lots of work with common metal polishes will do it.
Mothers Mag polish is available almost everywhere, and works pretty good.

The discoloring of the stainless pipes can't be avoided, but they'll look better with a little work.
(Which I SOMETIMES do....)

if you have the time? I have see this done on a bike when I was out riding had to speak to the guy who do it. His pipes stated going blue, so he took a Blow lamp and blue'd the rest all the way down to his collector box and stopped, then they turned back crome for the rest of the connecting pipe, he had fitted a Blue Flame end can, looked mint.

But dont know how hard it would be to do.

Chrome pipes will turn blue from heat, stainless generally won't - it turns gold. If you polish them regularly - and with much effort, you can get them back to the silver look - but it won't last long as they start turning gold as soon as you fire it up.
