Never done it before but dropped my bike in the drive and snapped the sucker in two! A new one is $26 (CDN) from Suzuki so I already ordered it.
Looked at the thing a bit and it doesn't seem too complicated....has anyone done it before??
Thanks and good riding!

It's the easiest fix you'll run into. Self-explanatory when you unscrew the bolt. Did you get a chrome one this time? Chrome makes the bike faster, you know!
-
I don't think so - never even thought about chrome but I can see how that would give you a couple more miles per hour on the top end!

Done this a couple times, takes about 1 minute.

Is that while you're watching the game?

how about the brake lever?? I gotta change both.
-
Just as simple.
-
Just don't drop that little brass thingy. Undo the the main bolt (pivot point). It has a slot on top and a nut on the bottom. Once you've removed that then slide the lever out slowly and keep your other hand underneath to catch the little brass thingy.
If you're like me this is one of those simple jobs, like changing the oil, that makes you feel like a real mechanic.
-
Yeah, next day when you go to work you can puff up around the other guys in the breakroom and tell 'em how over the weekend you changed out the factory front end non-ABS braking system leverage assembly!
Then kinda rub the back of your hand across your forehead whilst exhaling with a slight whistling sound and then say, "Man!"
You have now forever impressed everyone around you.

Hey! Got the clutch lever today. $29 but it's for the wrong side!! Must be the brake lever cuz the little ball thingie is pointing to the right.....oh, hold on, i just flipped the package over and we're okay! Whewww!!!!

Have you considered counseling?

I know I'm biased but was that the funniest posting in the history of the web, or what???
I kill me!

Think of it this way... if he's surfing the Alley, he's not passing bad info off to his students. :stickpoke:
-
Yeah, but he's fittin' to!

Got the clutch lever on last night (and I was pretty much inebriated on a glass of red wine) - no problems , other than trying to get my fat fingers around the back to hold the nut in place to start when you go to put it back together. Seems to work fine. The whole job is a 1 on a scale of difficulty 1-10.

Jim. Master Mechanic. Oooooooo.
Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back! Hard to hold the mug afterwards.
-
You disagree with my rating, Des? I still say changing the clutch lever is a 1 on a scale of 0 - 10. Changing the oil is a .5!
And yes!! I feel like a master mechanic because I finally got the pinion gear off my B & G starter. It only took me a week!! Whaddaya want? BTW, still haven't got the durn lawn tractor running.
Jim's charges:
lawnmower mechanic - removing pinion gear from starter:
$40/ hr. X 40 hours = $1600.00
At this rate, I can soon retire!

Where 1 is most difficult? :stickpoke:

And now you go and change the scale! :duh:
-
0-10 is imperial while 1-10 is US!!
(Did I fake my way through that error?) :wtf:

The only tough part of changing a lever is getting the tassles back on!!

Jim
Uh, are we talking MC maintenance, or something else?
-
whats a clutch lever? :stickpoke:
-
Hi
Just don't do what I did. Took of the clutch lever and doing so snapped the pin for the clutch switch.
All the best
