Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can help on this for me.
I need to replace the left crankcase cover on my 650 (due to scratches). Will I have to drain the oil before taking the cover off before replacing the cover and gasket? I'm thinking if I take it off without doing so the oil will spill out, or will it? Or do you think I can get away with leaning the bike to the right, maybe against the wall a few degrees? If anyone knows I'd appreciate your help. Thanks.

hmm. well I know there will be many answers to this one but how much does it cost you for an oil change? $12? If you just changed the oil and you are that tight on money that you cant afford to let a little dino outta the bandito then you can try to save it.....just dont drop the bike...plastics and scratches (on the other side) will cost you a lot of money and heartache in the long run. You can re-use the gasket as long as it isn' t pinched and cracked. I would spend the couple of bucks to get a new one. There are lots of people on here that will re-use the gaskets when they do things like adjust the valves and what not. I would get a new one just for the fact that stuff won't leak out and you wont waste that precious oil. In the end it is possible to do what you want, but is it worth it?

Thanks for your input. I'll change the oil, I just had it done though, that's why I thought I would try and save it. Take care.

Just put it on the center stand. Some may come out, but it won't drain it.
