Just inspected my front tyre, a Continental road attack, dont know how oldit is as it was on a 7 year old bandit when i bought it last month,in the tread grooves( this tyre looks almost new)it has cracks that run with the groove in the groove edges. My wory is water ingress and a tyre blow out. Any one else seen this before? is it worth contacting continental?

Your tires are old and should be retired (no pun intended). The cracks are "age cracks" meaning enough miles, time, and UV rays have done them in. Get a new pair, not only will you be safer but you'll be amazed how much better your bike feels and handles with new rubber.

Why not give the person you bought it from a call and ask. Seeing as you are in Wales, did the bike come taxed and tested? If so, I'd question the shop that passed it, if they let tyres like that go through then what else DIDN"T they look at?
Better to get a new set and be safe than chance it and end up on your arse.
Remember....skin heals (eventually) but bike bits COST!!!

Thats a very good point Bandit#999, new mot when i bought her, even though it still had 6 months left to run on the old one. Thier going to love me at that dealer, up to now its cost them two new front discs and pads for the mot (brakes had been binding), chain and sprokets and a TPS thats on order. :thanks:

To many F-ing cowboys out there peddling shite.
Bad enough when a rear tyre lets go, but a front could be serious. If they give you any agro tell them that. New front or legal action, don't back down.

Update,
Garage showed me the mot spec and unbelievably these cracked tyres dont constitute a fail, needless to say they wouldn't replace them, they then proceeded to show me at least five other bikes, one of wich was the m.o.t. testers own machine with even worse cracks than mine. I have decided to pay for a new one (from a different dealer, sod em)but it does concern me, so if anyone out there is using Continental road attac tyres, please check your front tyres for cracking in the tread grooves, i would be interested in any feedback as mine is obviously not isolated and i will be contacting Continental.
