oh i think the bike was more mad at the fact that i had to ride it to school that morning in -10 and with a VERY frayed clutch cable. i was not impressed either.

i wonder if your compression is still good. since that what helps it start as well, the whole a compressed gas heats up stuff. because lack of heat in the combustion chambers what makes the diesel engine so hard to start as you would know.

:duh: you run two batteries dont you? but still.. your engine is over 3 time as big as mine. but only 2 times the batteries.

there is a chance that the -10 ride was the last time my bike will see the streets... apparently transport Alberta thinks my bike is a dirt bike... :stickpoke:

You might consider one of those Motomaster Elimiator Booster packs, from Crappy Tire.  That should start the diesel, and save a lot of wear and tear on the bike's charging system.

I think the compression is probably fine.... the truck's running really well now.  Takes some time for it to warm up enough that it wants to accelerate, but once it does, it seems to be just fine.  I even left it (plugged in) today at work the whole day, instead of starting it at lunch like usual.  No fireworks or fanfare. :)

Actually, the engine is more than 4.5x bigger than yours.   :stickpoke:  It's the 7.3L.
Yup... that thing demands a lot of power on startup :)

What?  where the hell did they get that idea?  It wouldn't take much to prove them wrong... The registries insisted that my 02 KTM 200EXC was a DXC.  I told them that they'd never made a DXC in that year, they looked at the NVIS, and the vin # and changed it in the system,....

Obviously you won't have the NVIS, but perhaps there would be another way to prove it?  Contact Suzuki?

More than likely, they're doing this based on the VIN #?

i just learned how to pick the lock on the car that parks beside me. but i have only ever needed a boost one more time because i left my i pod charging over that -30/-40 weekend we had a few weeks ago. and sait decided it would be a good time to turn off the student plug ins.. but as soon as i can get a garage where i can work without needing my winter mechanics gloves i will do a dual battery mod since i only have one right now, i would love to even have a garage down here, heated or not.

i gave up on boosting golf with the bike, i parked it in a heated garage parked on stands besides my friends Mercedes Benz. but it still gets boosting duty for my 84 monte carlo ss(which is getting a vette engine this summer) which my sister loves to keep the lights on  :duh:

all diesels will have a really hard time warming up from just idle. you truck should have a high idle? where it brings the engines revs up to where the turbo is just starting to give positive boost. even the golf has a choke (timing advance) lever. i have been told its bad to let a diesel low idle for a long time.. but i dont know how much of that i believe

hmm i guess the newer diesels are smaller.. your engine probably weighs as much as my car!!

dont even get me started with transport alberta.. spent over 5 hours on the phone with them over the last 2 days. finding a intelligent person to talk to there is harder then taking off from a set of lights in 3rd gear with 400cc. probably talked to 10 different people before one kinda knew what i was talking about. first they said my frame was unsafe.. then it turned into a dirt bike.. then the guy relised that off road might mean race only bike... they called Suzuki to see what my bike was and suzuki didnt know what it was..no surprise there since suzuki told me the re5 was never made.. to bad i got one in my garage. then after i semi convinced them it wasn't a race bike, they asked if it had a odometer.. which it doesnt. which made the guy think it was a race bike for sure... till i told him that the bike had a odometer when i came to canada. well then we went back to dirt bike.. in which he goggled my bike for pictures and some how thought it had long travel suspension.......  :stickpoke: well got a phone call today saying the only problem is the odometer. and to get another out of province inspection and we are all good.. i would LOVE to know how they originally learned i did not have one... but oh  well. my bike will hopefully return to the streets.. *vent over* hahaha... that was long.. sorry for all the typos. oh also.. apparently there is a "mc" missing from my vin.. the fact that its only 7 characters long instead of 12, which would lead me to suspect that my vin doesnt follow north american rules seemed to fly right over their heads.
