starting problem
« on: March 24, 2006, 05:15:33 AM »
Not had a bike for 14 years so bought a bandit to learn on (again). I bought it off eBay but went and had a good look. When there it started fine, a mate rode it home and we changed the plugs, oil and filters.
Problem now is it will not start from cold! Once I bumb it off and it is warm, it starts first time. (put new battery on) Took plug out and there is a spark on each! But one of the exsaust pipes does not get warm for some time!
Is this a carb set up problem... is it a lot to sort out (I will have to pay for this as changing the plugs and oil was pussing it for me).... Help
I am in Leeds
just want to get on a ride and play out with the big boys

Either the cooler pipe has intermittant spark or the mixture is messed up on that cylinder... getting sporadic fuel (dirty passages) or it's running rich (causes that cyl to run cooler).

If it's not starting when cold, check the choke system and be sure it's working.
