Title: exhaust bolts size question.
Post by: dimitry on April 04, 2006, 11:10:12 PM
Hi, im taking my exhaust off the bike this weekend and i noticed the hex key are something in betwen 6 and a 7 mm.

I dont want to strip it and i dont have nothing in betwen. So i was curious if anyone had the size of the hex key, so i can but a good quality one to take the bolts that hold the exhaust to the engine.

Danke.

Dimitry.

A 6mm allen key is the one you need and if you want to avoid removing the oil cooler then you will need a long allen key to give you enough clearance to remove the bolts.

Hi, thanks for your answer.

I tryed a 6 mm allen wrench and has play in it, but 7 is too big.

Have you tried 1/4"?  That comes out to 0.635 and may fit snugly.

You'll still need a long allen wrench regardless of whether you take the oil cooler loose or not so you can clear the pipes and get a good turn on it. By the way, two screws gets the oil cooler out of the way. Not a problem.
