FE Swap - using a GSXR Ignition switch on a B12
« on: August 21, 2008, 11:35:28 AM »
Hi Guys,

Ok .. Front End Swap 98% Done  :beers: !!

Only one question - Can I use the GSXR ignition switch?

It's only got 4 wires (On-position loops two pairs)
But the B12's ignition switch has 3 Pairs (On loops all three but with a resistance on 3rd pair).
Two two pairs both have are the same - same colour even .. this works ok .. but the missing pair seem to go to the CDI.. and it won't spark without them  :duh:

It looks (From my wiring diagram) to be just a sidestand/clutch cutout ... but i'm not sure .. can I permanantly loop them?

Or maybe put in a relay from the power feed (after the switch obviously!)?

Any Ideas would realy help ... thnx

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok .. so apparently it's a security feature ... gonna need a diode in line .. anyone got ANY experience of this?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok .. Sod-it ... Have removed GSRX switch (loads of drilling!) and will use Bandit one..... We'll see how it goes....
------------------------------------------------------------------------
All ok now .. er .. thanks for all your help everyone!!! ...  :annoy:   -  Did anyone actuially read this? .. Ahh well - next time it happens to someone else, at lease they'll have a solution.

Bye....

You logged 50 views as of the time I re-read this.  You probably didn't get a response becuase you asked if anyone had any experience or knowledge with this and no one that read it did... I know that's why I didn't say anything.

Someone's gotta be a pioneer on every mod... looks like on this one, it was you.
