Carb sync = 6 MPG!
« on: September 08, 2005, 07:30:21 AM »
If you followed my "Po man's carb sync tool" post, you know that I had some rather poorly synchronized carbs on my 2001 B600.

Since performing the carb sync, I've had the chance to run a couple of tanks of gas through. The result: MPG went from 42 to 48! I waited until my second fill up to post this info; I wanted to make sure the first tank wasn't a fluke.

I'm still searching for that elusive 50 mpg.....new plugs are next.

Try driving down-hill as much as possible  :bigok:

Are you running a stock air filter and exhaust? Most people equate that kind of stuff with horsepower increases, but thats just a side effect of increased efficency. Another side effect? Better fuel economy... if you can control the urge to twist the throttle, that is.

I finally topped out at 48 MPG also.  Driving 60%+ highway at indicated 75mph-80 mph seems to keep the mileage down in the 46-48 MPG range.

Let me know if anyone figures out how to get more

I was in the 36-43 MPG range before re-adjusted floats + carb sync.

Also have the 16/45 tooth sprockets.  This does not help or hurt mileage, but does get me out of the buzz on the highway.  Oh does it feel so much more relaxing at 75-80 mph!!

Mostly commuting to work. 8 miles each way...I come home for lunch...so 32 miles a day total. It's about half surface streets and half highway. Two stop signs and 4 traffic lights between home and work. So I'd say it's a pretty balanced sample of riding.

I'm going on a 3200 mile roadtrip next week    ....lots of superslab. I'll be dissapointed if I don't crack 50 mpg.

My riding has been 25 miles one way to work over 60% between 65 and 75 mph highways.

I think if I were to ride <60 mph for a tank my mileage would be better.
