OK....Which One Of You Guys & Gals Has....
« on: April 08, 2007, 02:08:09 AM »
balanced the carbs on your '06 B12 ?? I ordered the factory manual and it arrived today.....but the wankers at the dealership ordered the G2 manual. I've searched and searched my carbs for a vacuum tap to hook up a carb synch tool but no joy. Until I can get the manual thing sorted out, has anyone any ideas about this ?? All help gratefully accepted....

I'm pretty sure the '06 uses the same carbs as the '01-'05 models. The vacuum port you use is the same one that the #4 carb uses to control the petcock and PAIR valve and is capped off on the other three carbs.

In the pic below, it's the port just above the finger with the long hose attached to it on #4 and you can see the caps on the #3 & #2 ports in the background.

Thnaks for the info and pic, Paul. I'll be making the trek to the garden shed later and see if my '06 is the same or not. If it IS the same, I'll just plead (with justification) my failing closeup eyesight.
If the ports aren't there, well, that's a whole 'nother thing.
I can't believe there's a valid reason they keep on changing the location of these ports.....

UPDATE:
You were exactly right, Paul. The ports are as per your pics so that's saved me from buying an unnecessary carb balancing tool. My buddy, the Water Buffalo King, already has the fancy (and very pricey) genuine Suzuki carb balancing gizmo that I can borrow.
I was thinking that if there weren't any ports on the other 3 carbs (which, admittedly, would have been strange) I would have had to end up buying an SK Synchrometer balancing tool which is made specifically for carbs WITHOUT predrilled ports.
So nowI'm good to go.
Now I think I'll go out and use my trusty Fluke 77 digital VOM to check out my TPS after reading THAT thread last night.
This board is just chock-full of critically important info......
plus I can keep my Bandit out of the uncaring clutches of the dealership's mechanics.....

Hey Red01 can I ask what the caps are in the picture under your finger? Are those the ones that go to the canister? If yes did you just cap them and remove all the smog crap? Any problems with the carbs doing that? Or is that some kind of drain? I never really looked at that plumbing.

Well, first off, it's not MY finger... I cheated and posted the image from Bill Johnson's excellent B12 maintenance/mod site.
Secondly, I'm not positive what those ports are, but you may be right. The canister is only on California models, and mine is a 49-state version, so they're capped from the factory. The smog crap's only other connection to the carbs is a tee in the #4 carb's vacuum hose that runs to the petcock & PAIR valve. The capped tee fitting you can see on the #4 vacuum hose in the pic is what used to run to the PAIR valve. Bill describes these ports in his PAIR removal article, but doesn't have pics of that step.

It looks more like a thumb anyway.
I've removed my PAIR valve when I did my vavle adjustment the first time a long time ago. The only differents was the vacuum hose came off carb #3 not #4 with a tee.
I've looked in my service manual and can't find anything on the canister. If I remember right it has lines to the carbs and the gas tank. It doesn't connect to the PAIR at all. It doesn't hurt anything but the hoses comeing down from the carbs get in the way when adjusting the a/f screws. I don't have one of those sweet adjusting tools that hole shot sells.    :stfu:

sorry for high-jacking  :bomb:  your thread H2RICK
