I just typed this response, and pressed "submit" and it dissappeared. RATS!!!

Android,

You have a little problem. It sounds like the nuts that screw onto the ends of those long screws are loose in the handlebars. Here is one way to fix it:

Take a section of clotheshanger and bend a hook in it and use that (maybe with pliers to pull with) and fish out the rubber expansion plugs. Do this with the handlebars still tight in the clamps. Fish out both plugs.

Take the bars out of the handlebar clamps and pour the nuts out one end. Re-install the bars. (put a towel over your tank to prevent scratches). You could try to fish the nuts out first, maybe you get lucky.

Put each bar end weight assembly together (at this point I superglued the nuts onto the rubber don't get glue on the threads!!!) Put 'em back in and tighten 'em up.

If you glue the nuts, and if you are careful next time, the nuts will stay put and you won't have to go through this again. Be patient.

Good luck!

Steve

thanks steve, got em out, I used canned air that I use to clean my computer to blow one of the nuts out and it worked!
Just have to put them in now and tighten up, thanks again.

Glad it worked out so well for you! So you are down in Oly, maybe we will join up for a ride sometime. Check the PNW threads below on the main page.

You got me thinking and I went down and took my gel grips off and reglued them after writing to you. I use Dual Star heaters and the grips had twisted during the winter. I think they will stay put now.

Take care,

Steve

Anybody ever try golf grip tape and solvent? Just wondering if this would work.
