Changing from 2nd to 3rd gear problems
« on: April 05, 2006, 02:45:04 PM »
Hi guys,

I bought the bike on saturday its a 03 b6 with only 870 miles. Im having alot of problems changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. Basically it will shift up fine at around 3500rpm but anything over this and it just doesnt want to change at all. I used to ride a dragstar 650 so this is a very different machine and am not sure whether its me or the bike?? What could I be doing wrong or is something wrong, I havent a clue! Also the day I got it I went for a ride for about an hour when it just spluttered and stopped completely, after leaving it for 15 minutes it started again fine! Its hardly done any miles so I dont know what the problem could be! Your help would be appreciated.

Cheers

James :crybaby:

With 870 miles on it, you're already overdue for the first service anyway - at least by US Suzuki's 600 mile initial service standards. Take it in for service and tell them of your issues.

If they're worth their salt, they won't call you a tit to your face - they'll wait until you're gone.  :stickpoke:

If your bike is an 03 with only 870 mi. its done some sitting.  I would say some bad gas has affected your carbs.  If this is the case, your warranty may not cover it.  As for the shifting, with only 870 mi. I don't think you have any mechanical issues.  Is your oil old? Perhaps your clutch cable is dry, corroded, or not adjusted properly.  If its not disengaging the clutch properly shifting can be hard.  Try the dealer warranty thing first to see what they say.

It could be as simple as the clutch cable needs some adjustment. Go in for the service. If the cable is new it's going to stretch like crazy for the first 1000 miles.
