Like a Timex.

Shift it at any RPM that doesn't make it lug and is below the rev limiter, just depends on how quickly you want to make forward progress.

Are you stock or jetted?  When mine was stock I had to rev it to at least 5k to avoid lugging in the next gear.  After the holeshot mods, I can shift around 4k (a little less on level ground).  Real power hits around 8k, for a 600 it makes decent power when you get around 10k.  This motor is very durable.  I only have 10k mi. on mine but it runs great and i've never had to add oil between changes.

In town I shift my B6 at 4-5000. Everywhere else about 7000 unless I'm in the mood to haul ass. Then its 10500-11000. I think it shifts the smoothest between 6500-8500. Hope that helps.

I do the same as dsartwell1 on my 2000 B6.  Love my B6's durability.
