My TPS experience
« on: April 02, 2007, 02:13:22 PM »
Hi all,

My first "real" post; see my introduction back in December if you're curious (http://forums.banditalley.net/viewtopic.php?t=7790&highlight=).

I've put about 1500 miles on the bike (2001 1200S); it now has about 3300 miles.  I've been getting about 35 mpg.  Using instructions culled from these forums, yesterday I checked the throttle position sensor.

With throttle closed, I got a reading of 5.01 Kohms.  76% of this is 3.81; my reading at WFO was 4.03.  I had some trouble loosening the mounting screws; the torque spec for those screws is only 2 N-m, but they were very tight.

Eventually got it set to 3.81, tightened it up, went and filled up the tank (at $3.30/gal!).  I'll let you know in about a week if it improved my mileage at all.  Throttle reponse feels a little crisper, but that might just be wishful thinking.  I only went for a short ride.

Next up:  help me mount case guards!
bye for now...dt
