Oil drain plug - coil or threading came out?
« on: April 04, 2009, 09:04:01 PM »
I just drained my oil and noticed what looks like a coil or threading poking out of the drain hole. What the hell is that? I dont think it was the threading coming out of the oil pan, the drain plug screwed back up but I have refilled and started any ideas???? The coil looks rough on the outside, not good.

If I had to guess without seeing it, I'd say that the drain hole was previously stripped and the helicoil used to repair it is now working its way out. Pretty common.
