Title: PAINT SUGGESTIONS.....
Post by: GETFURIOUS on February 02, 2009, 05:14:27 PM
I AM ABOUT TO PAINT MY BANDIT.....

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE AVATAR.....IT IS A RED BANDIT.....(2001.....1200S).....

SINCE I AM NOT GOING TO PAINT THE FRAME.....I WILL BE PAINTING MY BIKE THE SAME SHADE OF RED THAT IT CAME AS.....

(FAIRING.....GAS TANK.....TAIL SECTION.....FRONT FENDER.....SIDE COVERS).....

HOWEVER.....

I WOULD LIKE TO TWO-TONE THE PAINT.....

SO I AM LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON THE SECOND COLOR AND THE LOCATION OF THE TWO-TONE.....(NO LIME GREEN.....AND NO ORANGE).....

I HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THE GALLERY FOR SOME IDEAS.....AS WELL AS OTHER WEBSITES.....BUT I CANNOT FIND A SCHEME THAT I LIKE.....

SO IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS.....BRING'EM ON.....

WHATEVER I CHOOSE.....I WILL POST PHOTOS WHEN IT IS DONE.....

I've always liked the blue/white paint scheme of the 2005 (US) B12's. (I think Europe had the scheme in '04, too.)  I've thought a similar scheme using reds instead of blues would look good.  Kinda reminescent of the GS1000S and how it came in blue/white or red/white.  I also think it would look good with black bodywork while retaining the red frame - like some markets got the 3G B12's.

I was thinking of painting mine silver with a red stripe...would go nicely with my red frame IMO....but I've also toyed with the idea of going with the black bodywork as in the photo above...

COOL IDEA.....

I THINK THAT THE BLACK BODYWORK MIGHT LOOK GOOD ON THE RED FRAME WITH A RED ACCENT STRIPE OF SOMEKIND PLACED ON THE BLACK BODYWORK.....

B-T-W.....I SEE THAT YOU HAVE THE LATE MODEL BANDIT.....DO YOU THINK THAT THE MIRRORS FROM YOUR BANDIT WILL FIT "RIGHT" (CORRECTLY) ON A 2001 BANDIT?....

MY MIRRORS HAVE A FEW SMALL SCRATCHES.....AND I WANT TO GET RID OF THE "RUBBER BOOT" LOOK ANYWAY.....

THANKS.....

If you're going to go red, beware, beware beware of trying to go Metallic Red. ie. the colour of my ride.

I got the base, the topcoat, the clearcoat from ColorRite in an attempt to match a Fenda Extenda.
I did a spraythrough test on some board until I was able to match the colour of my bike. Once the board dried they were an exact match -- so I went ahead and painted the Fenda Extenda the exact same way.

Wasn't even close. When wet, it looked perfect, but once it dried, it was all red, no metallic. I am mighty bummed.
