I want to order a starter cable online. Its for a 96 B6. When I look at the parts Fiche it has a lot of part #'s all for the starter cable. Please help me choose the right one. About 7 years ago I replaced the cable and the free play in the cable was a little short, with the adjusters turned all the way in it was a tight fit. I had to make it fit. Time for a new one.

How about ordering all three (two were replaced with other numbers) and returning the ones that don't fit??? Beyond that I can't help ya.

Ask a dealer which one is right for your bike.

Are you talking about the same thing as the part called "WIRE, STARTER MOTOR L?"
If so, the Ron Ayers parts fiche (#13) (http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/300_0260/electrical/electrical.cfm?man=su&groupid=4640&parent=4600) calls out p/n 33810-26E00 ($17.34).

I think he's refering to the "choke cable" as we call it. It's actually listed as a "starter cable" in the micro-fiche.

Ahhh. They do give out some strange names.
-
No not the "WIRE, STARTER MOTOR L"
And yes it would be what us older guys call the "choke cable"
I got one from the dealer years ago and it reaches from handlebar to carbs ok but there wasn't any slack in the cable inside the cover. I had to tweek the mount.

Well #3 and # 4 have been replaced so I geuss I'll be ordering #1 or #2 first. I called three dealer and two parts guys and all say its #1, so I flipped a coin. Good thing I don't need it till it gets cold. I noted cost is different for each cable too...
