chain tighter - noise?

So I know how a chain can become loose over time( wear etc.), but how would, if possible a chain become tighter by itself? I'm trying to rule out chain being too tight as a cause for "stammering" or "jerkiness" as I decel or coast a little and possible the reason I have a "drone" or "howl" noise that increases in pitch as I accelerate.

A fellow Bandit owner swears his chain got tighter during a multi-day ride once....  his theory - possibly caused by hitting cattle guards on some of the Hill Country roads in Texas.  I'd check your axle nut tightness and may sure everything is up against the adjustment plates.  You can always loosen the chain too....  :stickpoke:

The only way I can think of is that the chain is adjusted at the loosest part of the chain instead of the tightest part. Then when it comes around to the tightest part of the chain it is to tight.
