REAR SHOCKSPRING SOFT <> NEED OPTIONS TO STIFFEN THE R
« on: May 05, 2005, 07:17:28 PM »
I HAVE A 1996 BANDIT 600 AND WANT TO RIDE WITH PASSENGERS BUT THE BIKE BOTTOMS OUT WHEN I DO. WHAT CAN I DO TO STIFFEN THE RIDE.

WHAT IS THE LENGTH OF THE SHOCK SPRONG FROM EYE TO EYE?
WHAT OTHER BIKES HAVE A SIMILAR SPRING THAT WOULD GIVE THE BIKE A HARDER RIDE?

THANKS
 :thanks:

The stock B6 shock is very wimpy.  I put a B12 shock on mine and its worked well.  Does well with 2 up riding too as I go very little preload for single riding and crank it up a few for a passenger.  You will have to add progressive fork springs to keep things even (you don't want a firm rear with a spongy front end).  Someone usually has one for sale on ebay for cheap or run an ad here.

I have the oem shock from my 98 1200, you can have if you want. I'm guessing it probably has about 6000 miles on it. Suspension front and back were the 1st upgrades I did on my bike. $10.plus shipping, but I wo'nt be able to send it out untill I get back in town. I'll be gone for a week or 2,depending on if everything on the job is ready or not.
