I've always used the hand method, but I suppose it may depend on the depth and/or quantity of scratches. This is the stuff we used in the military for cleaning and polishing helicopter windshields, windows and chin bubbles...

I know what you're saying Red.  But, it's not marriage that ruins the sex life, it's god damn kids.

I have a 1996 600 S and my winshield has all kinds of very fine scrathes in it. I used Blue Magic Plexiglass cleaner and all I got was a very clean scratchy windshield.  :duh:    My srtaches all run one direction and its like they are in the middle of the plexiglass not on the surface. Looks like a replace for me. :crybaby:

I don't know if you are able to get it where you are but in NZ we have a product called  Brasso.  Brasso is a metal polish and can be used on a variety of things, brass, silver stainless steel (great for exaust systems).  The guys at the local boating club use it to clean and remove light scratches from the windscreens on thier very expensive boats.  I have seen it used and the results.  In my humble opinion it works very well.

Depends on how badly the plastic is scratched.

#10 Mirror Glaze is a polish for the heavier scrathes
#17 Mirror Glaze is a cleaner and will handle fine scratches
#18 Mirror Glaze is a detailer for keeping it pristine

They also have another product called PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish. I don't have any experience with it, but their site says this about it:
Quote
Easy-to-use, rich gel formula quickly restores optical clarity to both rigid and flexible clear plastics. Removes light oxidation, chemical degradation, surface contamination, stains and light surface scratches with ease. Contains water-resistant polymers for lasting, durable protection to keep plastics clear and beautiful longer.
