handlebar risers
« on: July 14, 2005, 05:02:33 PM »
hey guys, i just bought a 2000 1200 bandit last night and i'd like to start modding it.  one of the things i'd like to do is raise the handlebar.  what do you think of 1" handlebar risers that cost $30?  or helibars that cost $300?  ideally i'd like to have the grips 1" up and 1" towards me.

Gen-Mar makes a "kit' that includes risers that move the bars up 1" and back 1 and 3/8".  they include a new front brake hose which is needed.  The clutch line will fit as will the throttle and choke cables.

I added another 1" spacer underneath the risers and had to reposition the choke and throttle cables to behind the top fork brace to avoid binding at full lock of the handlebars.  Didn't need to do that with only the Gen-Mars in place though.

I don't remember Gen-Mar's web site, but a search should find it easily -- I simply entered Gen-Mar and it popped up.
