:?: I've been looking for a bar damper for my 2001 1200S. The Scotts requires a bit of welding. Anyone had experience with this or other dampers?

I have a Daytona damper on my "98". I got it for the right price,it was given to me. I had to make and weld a mouting tab on the frame under the right side of the tank,then clamps onto the fork.Hyper Pro made a top mount damper,but it was $430., and I liked the free better. Holeshot makes a kit for the 2nd gen Bandit that mounts on the left side.Not sure the price,you'd have to call and see.
I always thought the Bandit was stable w/o a damper,but I needed one to do practices,and races @ Nelson Ledges.

:thanks: Dan, for your reply. I will check the Hyper Pro. Where does the Daytona come from? And I don't like how the Holeshot mounts, although I like most of Dale's stuff!
I agree the Bandit is fairly stable but I first found how much added stability the fork brace gave me in fast twisties and, as my ability increases, every bit of added stability helps.
I also learned that, when fully loaded with saddlebags and tailbag and toolbag on the rear, a long sownhill sweeper at speed can cause the dr4eaded wigwags if one does not keep a firm grip.
I wonder if the 2007 Bandit has a damper? :motorsmile:

I've seen the Daytona dampers in race catologs (...smell something burning as I try to recall the mag name) I don't know if Penske makes anything,they might. It was a matter of taking the damper on hand and seeing where I could make it work. I was about to give up when I found the spot under the tank. I also had to use longer bolts on the right side coil to make room for the mounting bracket. But its out of harms way and works. Dan

The '07 does not come with a steering dampener. I would expect that it would be several months before this, or any aftermarket parts would be available.

Steering Damper Kit
The new B-12 will really shake its head when the horse power is applied. The Holeshot steering damper is the complete cure for this problem. The damper is a high quality unit made in Japan, with 7 click adjustments from soft to heavy.
All the mounting components are machined from air craft grade aluminum, then black anodized to protect them from the elements and to give them a very sano look. Stainless steel mounting hardware is included, as well as easy to follow installation and adjustment instructions. It is a direct bolt on without any modifications to the bike whatsoever.

The rear damper frame bracket is neatly tucked behind the frame tube on both models. All aluminum components are black anodized to protect them from the elements and to offer very clean look.
Note: The 'S'-Model uses a custom two piece fork clamp that can be installable without removing the front end or sliding down the fork tubes.

I do, I put them in a file, I'm just having trouble trying to post them. I'll see if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I've got an '02B12 and the thought of a steering damper had never crossed my mind.....

The only time I've notice the head shake is if it's not on the ground, or when using the crap Macadam tyres.
In normal use, hell even when I'm 'playing' in the twisties, I have never found the frount end a problem....
I've ridden a TL1000 without a steering damper, now that was scary. An RSV Mille with the damper backed right off is pretty scary to, but the B12 - get real - it's far from a sports bike......
