My bikes been in the stable for a while. When I go to start it up I get a smooth idle but once it's warmed up good the RPM's jump up to 2000 and just bouces around between 2000-2200. I have Sta bil in the tank could this possible be it. I'm thinking I need to clean the carbs or just need to start riding it and wring it kneck real good in some twisties.
what do you guys think it is?

If it were me, I'd burn up that fuel and see how it does on fresh stuff b/f digging into the carbs.

I'm about to install Holeshot jet kit so I thought about cleaning house while I'm in there and I'm installing new air filter and plugs aswell.

Drain the old gas (tank and foat bowls).
Replace with fresh gas and a healthy dose of carb cleaner (techron gets good reviews).
Run it for about 50 miles or so.
If it ran fine before you put it away, and just has a small stumble now, carb cleaner and fresh gas should workfine.
Otherwise, gummed carbs need disassembly, and a overnight soak in carb cleaner. But, if its running, but just little rough, try the easy method first...
Gummed carbs run like total crap, and sometimes the bike won't even start-so I doubt they're that bad...

I second that. Fresh Gas, Carb cleaner in the tank and a long highway ride at high rpm will fix it. One of your pilots is probably gummed up that's why it's bouncing(one cylinder lean) and increasing rpm. Ride on the highway in 4th not 5th to keep the rpm's up while still travelling at semi-legal speeds.
Also if you just put Stabil in the tank without running it for 10 minutes to make sure it hits the float bowls it won't do you much good. The gas in the tank may be stabilized but if the carbs don't get the same treatment it will still screw the carbs up. Next winter, go for a ride to fill up then put stabil in the tank at the gas station and ride home, by the time you get home the stabil will be well through the carbs.
If you want to clear the carbs quickly warm up the bike properly. Rev the bike up into the 8 thousand area then put your hand over the snorkle completely covering the snorkle and let go of the throttle. You'll have a very high vacuum with no extra air getting to the carbs so any crap or gumminess will get sucked out of the pilots and it usually clears them. THis is known as an "Italian tune up" :grin: as it's an old Ducati trick as their Dell'Orto's would seep water into the float bowls and it was a quick way of getting the crap out of there. I would still take it for a long highway drive and put infresh fuel none-the less.
