Title: Tachometer stopped working.
Post by: SonofRob on September 19, 2005, 12:53:39 AM
My tach was working a couple days ago.  It started to work intermittently, but today it just totally stopped working.  Any suggestions, ideas appreciated.

I think the '00 still had a mechanical drive for the tach.  Might need a new one??

Mechanical speedo, electric tach.

Look for poor connections and wire condition.

I went over a wicked railway crossing that just about knocked me over the handlebars of my XJ1100 Yamaha. The tach stopped working immediately but all else was OK. Next thing the battery started going dead - lived with this for a season while at the same time looking for a replacement tach. Brought the bike in to get the charging system serviced and when I got the bike back the tach worked just fine (no one touched it).

Looked like Yamaha's way of telling me the charging circuit was out. - Maybe the same with the Bandit?? Watch for you battery charge over the next while...
