Title: Turned over without plugs in heard a pop
Post by: notagix on November 16, 2011, 01:24:11 PM
While winterizing my 07 B1250 I put some oil in the cylinders then turned it over without the spark plugs in and heard a pop. Can you damage the electronics this way?

you shouldnt hurt any thing.
an old trick is to pull the plugs, put a few squirts of diesil in each hole and give it a few turns on the starter. stops the rings and bores from rusting and its not going to hurt anything at all

Maybe an electrical pop of the spark intended for the plug finding a ground elsewhere?

Maybe the "pop" was more of a fast whoosh as when the pistons are coming up they are creating pressure that blows out the spark plug hole creating noise. Think of it as blowing on a pop bottle x20. Or a subsonic report out of a firearm.
